What about the Illyrian Atintani and the epirote Atintanes?
Both originated from the same stock only the former became Illyrinised while the latter remained Greek...so isn't it possible that the original Albanians came from the Caucasus and the part that moved of to your present country called themselves the Balkan Albanians and the autochtones Caucasian Albanians remained the same...

There is an obvious evidence about caucasian albanians. As a result of the expansion of turcics into the territory of modern Azerbaijan in the eleventh century, the indigenous Albanian population was assimilated. Albanians played a significant role in the ethnogenesis of today's Azeris. They didn't left Azerbaijan they just assimilated. They are our ansestors as well.
