Topi demands change of toponyms in Korca
Tirana /14/03/ 09:28
Albanian President Bamir Topi demanded a change of Slavic and communist toponyms in the country, Makfax correspondent said.

Panorama daily says Topi urged the local authorities in Albania to change the toponyms of Slavic and communist names to avoid a situation like the one with Macedonia's name.

"The region of Korca has been infected by foreign toponyms that had been inherited or placed during the years of transition," Topi said, mentioning the villages of Podgora, Zvezda, Perusha, Moglica and Debracan. /end/

Wow in Greece and other Balkan countries the whole ridding of foreign toponyms phase was went through about a century ago. Albania since communism fell is like a young balkan state in the 19th century.

And about the slavic names who cares, its not our habbit to change names, even Hoxha never tryed seriously to do that,Illyrian,Roman,Greek,Slavic,Ottoman and modern Albanian toponyms can coexist without problems.
