Default The Gaida Instrument

sorry, i think i put this in the right topic area

---

The gaida (also spelled "gajda") is a bagpipe from South Eastern Europe (The Balkans). It is played throughout Bulgaria and the Republic of Macedonia primarily.

lol, how convinient, both the Bulgars and the 'Macedonians' both share the same national instrument

May be it is some kind of misunderstanding. What I mean is that if someone likes Schottische bagpipe, French cheese or Japanese sushi doesn’t make him/her Scottish, French or Japanese. The fact that gajda is used in Germany, Austria or wherever doesn’t mean, that this particular instrument has nationality.

I just red the article. Those guys, who published it, could make some more efforts to do it more accurately and complete. But you know: it is never late to discredit oneself…

The Gaida is an ancient instrument and I am quite sure it is one of the instruments of Dionysios along with the flute.

I am quite sure the gaida is recorded more than once in Byzantine chronicals as an instrument played by Byzantines.. but have to look for it.
