 Josef Schultz, Hero of Serbia, d.1941 Josef Schultz, Wehrmacht soldier Serbian proverb: "Čoystvo ye spasiti drugog od sebe, Yunaštvo ye spasiti sebe od drugih" ["Manliness is saving other from yourself, Heroism is saving yourself from others"] After the decimating of a group of Serbian guerrillas in Smederevska Palanka (Central Serbia), 16 of them were detained and than transfered to a nearby field for execution, at 20-VI-1941, , German soldier Jozef Schultz refused to participate in the shooting, after brief quarrel with his commander who threatened that he will be shot if he fails to proceed. He threw his rifle, removed his helmet and insignia and walked to the lined guerrillas. He was shot and executed with them and buried nearby.

__________________ Δεν δουλεύω για την κυβέρνηση, δουλεύω για τον Ελληνισμό. Δεν αγαπώ την κυβέρνηση, αγαπώ τον Ελληνισμό. Σιχαίνομαι την κυβέρνηση, δεν σιχαίνομαι τον Ελληνισμό. Άμα συλλογίζομαι την κυβέρνηση πέφτω, σηκώνομαι όταν νοιώθω τον Ελληνισμό. Πονώ για τον Ελληνισμό, για την κυβέρνηση μου έρχεται καταφρόνια. Για να ζήσω περισσότερο πρέπει να συνδεθώ με το Έθνος μου. Συνδέομαι με το Έθνος μου, όταν προσπαθώ να το δυναμώσω, διοχετεύοντας όλες τις δυνάμεις μου εκεί, δηλαδή σ΄ αυτόν τον σκοπό. ΙΩΝ ΔΡΑΓΟΥΜΗΣ  |
