 Another flag from the Ilinden uprising
A picture of the recently discovered flag of the Kastoria region of the "Macedonian" Ilinden Uprising in 1903. It says "Freedom or Death" and "Long live Macedonia".  
__________________ The Macedonian newspaper Utrinski Vesnik quotes another Professor, Gane Todorovski, as saying that Misirkov's "oxymoronic self-declaration as a Macedonian Bulgarian ... is just a complementary and administrative inert legitimating". The information about the flag was given by Krasimir Karakachanov, the leader of the Bulgarian VMRO -
According to him after the Ilinden uprising the flag was still used by the detachment of Vassil Chakalarov and after 1913 it was taken to the United States by emigrants. It's still kept there by their descendants. It does not say Kastoria anywhere, but most of the Ilinden flags had no such information on them. For example, the flags of Ohrid and Struga:   However, some of the banners had the place written on them. The flag of Zagorichane (today Βασιλειάδα in Greece)  Or the flag of Lozengrad (today Kırklareli in Turkey)  As a whole every detachment had its banner. cant see it as bulgarian propaganda when it is clearly depicted by ALL foreign consuls in 1903 that it was a bulgarian uprising...austrians, russians, english & french said it was a bulgarian uprising in 1903.
__________________ When countries had to register their names it was natural that the British wanted Britain as the name of their country, however they had to face the French veto because Brittany is a geographical area of France and that why they got the name, United Kingdom. I think as an argument this example is enough! |
