Lakonian it was the Church that forced him to close the Olympic games and desecrate the statute of Zeus.The excuse was that because they still sacrificed to the Gods the church elders put pressure on the empreror to do something as pagans were considered barbarians by that time.He moved the statute to Constantinople and later they melted it down I think.You must understand that Christianity was the new power house and their rule had to be absolute.

I mearly examine the faults in this faith, and the crimes that where commited for it to come into power. Romans, Spanish, Crusaders, Portoguese, Nazism, heresys, clergys, the church binding with the polis( yes they used the church as a foundation, the church obliged happily). lakonian have you read the Jesus Dynasty by James D Tabor?  http://www.jesusdynasty.com/ The book is a real eye opener Lakonian a must read mate.........

The book potrays the historical person rather than the mythicla one the church created to suit themselves. quote James, like John and Jesus before him, saw himself as a faithful Jew. None of them believed that their movement was a new religion. It was Paul who transformed Jesus and his message through his ministry to the gentiles, breaking with James and the followers of Jesus in Jerusalem, preaching a message based on his own revelations that would become Christianity. Its ggod read my friend, but books like these come in many...another inspired clone of the Davinci code.....the people behind these books have clergy agendas.....i prefere reading ancient historians accounts, although there you may find the slight side taking. Overall, i will never accept a church state, such as the one in Greec now....it lucky for me i care very little of what people choose, although it hurst me to see the decline of our people, and we bitch alld ay long about how evil the british and americans and turks are.....look at those countries, they stand for there beliefs, regardless if ill or good...what does Greece satnd for these days? What is its identity...all our people call on teh ancients when its time for political debate...there is no longer a hellenic system. I dont hate anyone because of this, i dont want anyone hurt over this....i just have read for the last 5 years how little we all know.....and its kinda unmotivating...but, at least we have our children children, who make wake to the light. |

The book isn't a Da Vinci code Lakonian.It's based on the historical facts of a Hebrew by the name of Yeshua and what happened to him on a historical basis.He questions the "immaculate conception".It questions his diviness,it questions his relationship with Magdalene and also claims by the finding of the tomb that Christ had a family with a child.The book is an eye opener for us sceptics about what was the reality of what Christ stood for and what maipulation Paul and the church did to create a pseudo religion based on myths.Talbot has seen and been in the tomb of Talpiot where they found the ossuaries and it really is an eye opener.It throws out the whole theory of his divine ressurection doesn't it?I mean i never knew that 4 of the apostles where his half brothers.
