Default Greek refugees in Austria/Germany (in Ottoman times)

I m currently reading a book written by Apostolos Vakalopoulos ("griechische Geschichte von 1204 bis heute) and found a passage where he mentions a few Greek Familys from Macedonia who migrated to germany and austria. One of them the Karagiannis family had a famous offspring:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbert_von_Karajan

Other greek familys mentioned in this book are:

"Jappas"
and
"Karajan" (there were 2 familys with that name)

Anyone heard of them before?

Yes, I know about Karajan. It was his great-grandfather who migrated from Macedonia around the end of 18th century to Germany, where he succeeds to cure the local Fürst from some illness. So he was rewarded with the title “von”, which the family has until nowadays.

In Austria-Hungary,Simon G. Sinas (1810-1877) from Moschopoli,he was a baron.A great GREEK benefactor with his father Georgios. They contributed to the creation of the Academy of Athens, the Cathedral,Amalieio orphanage and other.
Stergios Doumbas from Vlasti and Konstantinos Mpellios from Vlasti too.The latter founded the GREEK archaeological company and the town hospital "Elpis"-"Hope" of Athens and the settlement named "Nea Pella", near Atalanti, where Macedonias fought in the Greek revolution in South Greece, settled.
Brothers Nikolaos and Georgios Takiatzis from Kozani.
Georgios Vikelas from Veria. In Vienna there is the Greek church of Agios Georgios. There are 130 names mainly of Macedonias, written on the church ,of donators for its construction. The sixth name in the list is that of Theodoros Karagiannis from Kozani ,great grandfather of the conductor Herbert von Karajan. His wasn't the only Greek who was given the title "von".First on the list is Von Spirtas. Many important spiritual figures ,as Anthimos Gazis ,who prepared the Revolution of 1821 served as priests in the church.Ecumenical Patriarch Joakim III served as a deacon there too.
As far as Jappas (probably you mean Zappas) see here http://www.zappeion.gr/

For those, who like classical music and have some interest in genealogy, there is a link about my favorite conductor Herbert von Karajan family-tree:

GeneAll.net - Herbert, Ritter von Karajan

For those, who don't understand German language, just click on the name after "VATER". It means "father", and you can follow the lineage until Macedonia, Kozani.

I don't know what is you criteria for good cultural relations and how much you follow them. I myself am in the cultural field and I know there are all kind of events: state, regional or private initiatives, performed regularly in both countries and covered by the media on the both sides. I personally know many Greeks in Bulgaria, classmates, fellow students and colleagues, some of them well known in the society, all of them wonderful and talented people.

You know - the ideal is unreachable and improvement is always needed!
