Default Komitadji Songs

First I must say thanks very much for the songs that you attached on this forum..

I listened to them, and I like them very much...

I desided to upload one of my favorite folk songs....
the first song I'll post is a komitadji folk song about the Ilindedn insurrection in the
village of Mogila in Kostur area.. (well I don't know how is it called today)..

I translated the text of the song in english..

This post of mine is a atribut of our friendly discours..
It is a cultural dialog..

That's why I want you to hear how do our folk songs look like

Enjoy this song, as I enjoyed the beautifull songs of the Macedonian Greeks (I especially liked MAKEDONIKOS HOROS, and MANA MAKEDONIA)..

P.S.
What does MANA mean in greek???

Default Aber ide od Mogila

This song's name is "Aber mi ide od Mogila"... which in english means "A message is coming from Mogila"

-------------
Aber mi ide od Mogila.mp3
-------------

The song's lirics both in my language, and in english:

"Aber mi ide od Mogila" ---------------------

Aber mi idi od Mogila,
niz pole Pelagonisko,
pravo mi odi Bitola
Bitola kai valiata.

Valio bre Selim
Valio bre Selim
Mogila e polna komiti
tamu e Dimche Mogilche

Nalutil se Selim efendi
iavnal si konia doria
sobral si asker naisilen
utre ke odi Mogila
niz prsten iaice da protne

Izlezi bre Dimche Mogilche
Izlezi be kuche kaursko,
Zhenata ke ti ia ukradam
daleku ke ia odnesam
vo sarai ke ia poturcham.

Ai od tuka Selim efendi
ai od tuka kuche kasapsko,
kozhata ke ti ia oderam
na plevna ke ia obesam

"A Message is coming from the village of Mogila"----------------------------------------------

A Message is coming from the village of Mogila
Accross the field of Pelagonia
Its going directly to Bitola
To Bitola to the turskish Valia

Valio, Selim efendi
Valio, Selim efendi
Mogila is full of komitadzhis
Their lider is Dimche Mogilche

Selim Efendi got angry
He took his black horse
He picked up the mightiest turkish soldiers
and took the road to Mogila

Come out Dimche Mogilche
Come out you kaur dog (christian dog)
I'll take away your wife,
and convert her to islam

Go away Selim Efendi
Go away you butcher dog
I'll cut off your skin
and put it under the door of my house.

Shame on you Giourkas

It is a very beautifull song..
Both Slavs and Greeks were singing it during the Ottoman Slavery..

I think the lyrics was

maria me ta kitrina
poi agapas kalitera...

Part of the traditional song "βουλγαροκτονοι"/"Bulgar-Slayers" from the region of Serres. It was clearly inspired by the Komitadji operations in Macedonia.

"Το ηρωϊκό σπαθί μου,

που εδόξασεν η νίκη,

δεν θα μπει μέσα στη θήκη

πριν ο Βούλγαρος σβησθεί"

"My heroic sword,

that the victory glorified,

won't be put back inside its sheath

till the Bulgar is extinguished"

It was Ano Perivoli (literally meaning 'Upper Garden').
I am writing 'was',because I've never been near that place and I am not sure if it still exists today.
According to this site( http://www.gtp.gr/LocPage.asp?id=13803&SearchType= ),the population of Ano Perivoli was merely 24 as of 1991,so even if this village(hamlet?) do exist,it won't be long before it disappears...
