Serbia: "FYROM-Kosovo border demarcation only acceptable if Serbia involved" From makfax: Quote: Tadic: Border demarcation only with Serbia's participation
Ohrid /02/05/ 18:34
An agreement on demarcation of the Macedonia-Kosovo border is possible only with participation of Serbian institutions, Serbia's President Boris Tadic said in Ohrid today.
"As long as the Resolution 1244 is in force, no one can question the legitimate right of Serbia to be involved in marking of borders with the neighboring countries," Tadic said on the sidelines of the Summit of Central European Heads of States that kicked off in Ohrid today.
He added that this is not to be understood as malevolence toward Macedonia. "Serbia has friendly relations with Macedonia and best of intentions, but it has to protect its territorial integrity and sovereignty," Tadic said.
This issue was also in the focus of discussion at the bilateral meeting between Tadic and the Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski, Makfax's correspondent reported.
Tadic reiterated that Serbia could not accept any agreement reached between Pristina and Skopje concerning border demarcation.
The Serbian president expressed understanding for the Macedonian stances on this issue as well as on the other regional issues, but requested the same from his Macedonian counterpart.
