Snow in central Macedonia

Heavy snow was falling Friday in the mountainous regions of central Macedonia, northern Greece, with low temperatures and rain in Thessaloniki and the surrounding area.

On Thursday evening, snow covered the small villages and the Seli Ski Resort on Mt Vermio in the prefecture of Imathia. Temperature in the region dropped to -2C, while in most parts of central-western Macedonia in northwest Greece the temperature is below 10 degrees Centigrade, even in coastal areas.

Cars are move with difficulty, but no snow-chains are needed.
