Well, "Republic of Northern Macedonia" for international usage as well as constitutional name is something that Greece cannot refuse at that point. Let's see if this proposition is official indeed...

Matthew Nimitz gathers reactions to his recent proposals

Skopje. FYROMacedonia will continue the negotiations for its name, but will not accept a compromise that affects the national identity. That was the stand of the FYROMacedonian negotiator on the name dispute with Greece Nikola Dimitrov. He met the UN envoy on the name issue Matthew Nimitz the day before, the FYROMacedonian Utrinski Vesnik daily reported.

The new part of negotiations is reporting the stands of FYROMacedonia and Greece for the recent two proposals that Nimitz offered two weeks ago.
Nimitz is expected to meet the Greek negotiator Adamandios Vasilakis on Monday whereupon to forward a new proposal in the beginning of next month.

Skopje. A special lawyer will wage a court war over FYROMacedonian properties in Greece, and to fight for these properties being restituted back to their owners, the FYROMacedonian Dnevnik daily reported.

The juridical procedure will be brought in Greek courts and cadastre authorities so as the right of property of FYROMacedonians that have ever possessed property in Greece to be verified. The lawyer has had round about 30 Macedonians’ personal files containing testimonial letters and other documents that can prove that the properties had once been possessed by FYROMacedonian families and have been deforced by a Greek government decision, the FYROMacedonian edition stresses.

FYROMacedonian refugees issue is expected to turn into part of the Greek-FYROMacedonian talks

Skopje. In the next part of the negotiations for the name of FYROMacedonia that had to be opened last night in New York is expected includes the FYROMacedonian refugees issue, the FYROMacedonian Dnevnik daily reported.

The negotiation mediator will meet singly each country for technical consultations, the UN head office announced. FYROMacedonia is represented by Nikola Dimitrov and the Prime Minister's chief of staff Martin Protuger. No progress in relation to the coming to an agreement is expected, unnamed diplomatic sources revealed. It is most likely Nimitz to enlist the FYROMacedonian refugees’ issue in the negotiations due to FYROMacedonian government’s requirements.

Skopje. FYROMacedonia had made an accusation against UN messenger in the name dispute between FYROMacedonia and Greece Mathew Nimitz. The reason was his last proposal for the solution of the problem, FYROMacedonian Utrinski Vesnik newspaper reports. FYROMacedonian representatives in the negotiations, Nikola Dimitrov and the head of FYROMacedonian cabinet Prime Minister /PM/ Martin Protiger had given him an inkling that he had overstepped the limits of his authorities when he made the last proposal.

Eleftheros Typos: Skopje names university faculties after Alexander the Great, Philip II

Athens/Skopje. Skopje names university faculties after Alexander the Great, the Greek Eleftheros Typos newspaper writes.

The paper refers to the European University – Republic of Macedonia /EURM/ that has recently opened a branch in the British capital. In a moment when the talks between Athens and Skopje about the republic’s name are underway, one of the three faculties will be named Alexander the Great, the paper writes.

The EURM is the first private university in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. It was launched on June 1st 2005. The London branch is the first foreign one. After long negotiations the university bought a college in London and is now holding talks with Oxford. Its aim is to open a branch in the oldest British university.

The EURM’s British branch will have three faculties for now – for economics “St. Nikola”, for information technologies “Alexander the Great” and for arts “Philip II.” After the purchase of the British college about 1,000 students and 20 lecturers will become part of the EURM.


This should not be acceptable. Unfortunately I believe we can't say anything about this. I wish there was some way to fix this aggressive propaganda they're establishing.

Kirilica: New stage in Athens, Skopje talks about FYROMacedonia’s name

Skopje. After the latest meeting between FYROMacedonian representatives Nikola Dimitrov and Martin Protuger and Matthew Nimitz, UN mediator in the talks with Greece about FYROMacedonia’s name, the negotiations between Skopje and Athens entered a new stage, the FYROMacedonian online edition Kirilica writes.

This is the first time that FYROMacedonia has sent a concrete message to Nimitz, Greece, the EU and NATO that it does want, because of an Alliance membership, to accept a solution that will infringe on its national identity. According to the two negotiators this is a new moment on the ground of which the talks will develop further.

Athens. Government of the US President George Bush want to say goodbye to the world community with diplomatic successes in the last moment- to solve the Near East problem, Cyprian issue and the name dispute between Athens and Skopje in the name of the republic, Greek Elevteros Tipos newspaper reports. The article is entitled “US want solution, Skopje…identity”. The edition pointed that the second and the third issues has been thought easier. Because of that it is expected that attempt to subscribe to the agreements will be made in summer.

Skopje. Negotiations between FYROMacedonia and Greece, with the UN envoy Mathew Nimitz mediation will continue next week, Makfax reports. Mathew Nimitz will meet the Greek negotiator Adamandios Vasilakis on Monday. He had met with FYROMacedonian negotiators Nikola Dimitrov and Martin Protoger on Friday but the details from the meeting had not been announced officially, the Agency reports.
According to the information of FYROMacedonian media Nimitz had been informed about FYROMacedonian position that he had overstepped his authorities.
