Ancient Greek word for Slave

I used to have an ancient greek translator but lost it. can anyone tell me what Slave was in ancient Greek and when it changed to the word Sklavos exactly? according to most etymological sources on the net; the Greek Sklavos came from the latin Sclavus which both came from the word Sklav/ Slav due to the fact that so many Slavs were made Slaves fpr Byzantine and European use.

When it changed exactly I really can't say... but I think I read somewhere that it was first recorded in Byzantine texts around 560AD. and later (I think it was during the 9th. cent) in medieval Latin texts from which it passed onto French...

the only word that comes to mind is "ΔΟΥΛΟΣ"...

- anephaptos
- apeleutheros
- autoikos

Two of these words don't seem right to me..

- adoulos... privative (στερητικο) "a" indicating "lack of".. so "adoulos" should mean "he who has no slave"

- anephaptos ... "aneu" + "aptos" (αφη) = "without touch", I don't see "not being touched", as a notion that could be applied to a slave..

Sorry, I should be more precisely about the definitions. Doulos is the mainword for slave...but in ancient writings you can also find a lot of other descriptions for the same word "slave".

Anephaptos could be used as "slave"...I just have to find out the right passage.
