Default Lerin? Kostur? I dont think so.

Skopians always claim that Florinas and Kastorias names was changed by the Greeks and that the names Lerin and Kostur was the old names of that cities.

Well Sebastian Mnster(1448-1552) a German cartographer had a different opinion.

In that site we can see a big collection of Munster's maps.

Unfortunately for the Skopians he is a part of the Greek propaganda back from 1600(Editions of his maps has been published until 1628) and mention the city Florina with the name Florina and the city Kastoria with the name Kastoria.

I'm convinced that Greek government have a time machine.

Florina is the latinized version of Xlerinon(chlerinon), the cities original byzantine name. Chlerinon means 'full of green vegetation' in Greek.
Lerin in south slavic actually stems from Chlerinon with loss of the initial H in the local dialect. So you have chLERINon.
The same way Hristo becomes Risto and Horo becomes Oro , Chlerinon becomes Lerin. There is nothing Slavic in Lerin , its a Greek word .

Kostur on the other hand means 'bones' in slavic. Kastoria probably comes from Kastoras meaning 'beaver' which were plentiful in the lake in that time.
Or it could come from Kastro meaning 'castle'.
In any case the actual city itself was always populated by Greeks and not by Bulgarians/Makedonskis.
