The Cultural Year of Greece in China, which started in September 2007 and will be completed in September 2008, attempts to present the modern and also diachronic character of the Hellenic Culture and Greece in China. China, a land of rapid growth, host of the 2008 Olympic Games, and a population of 2 billion. Theatrical performances, cinema tributes, dance, archaeological and modern art exhibitions, opera, folk concerts, modern and popular music, conferences and book exhibitions constitute the main activities taking place in the framework of the Cultural Year of Greece in China. GOALS Attracting the interest of the global community towards Greece, through our constant presence in the country which is organizing the 2008 Olympic Games Further enforcement of the bond between the two countries by highlighting the common characteristics between the Greek and Chinese culture Promoting aspects of the ancient and modern Greek civilization, by hosting a series of events covering all cultural activities ![]() The Hellenic cultural centre in China. OCTOBER 19, 2007 CONCERT BY STAMATIS SPANOUDAKIS, "ALEXANDER - STREETS YOU HAVE NEVER WALKED" OFFICIAL OPENING CEREMONY OF THE YEAR BEIJING - GRAND NEW THEATRE Orchestra Direction: Andreas Pilarinos Choir Direction: Antonis Kontogeorgiou Thirteen years after his work "Alexandros", Stamatis Spanoudakis takes a musical walk into the depths of Asia, together with his favourite hero. In China, the composer will present his new work "Alexander - Roads you have never walked". Stamatis Spanoudakis composes music for the symphonic orchestra, Greek and Chinese popular instruments and choir. The ERT (Greek State Broadcasting Organization) Orchestra and Choir also participate. ![]() Τhe composer Stamatis Spanoudakis and the cover of his work "AΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΣ"/"ALEXANDER", a tribute to the ancient Greek king of Macedonia.
