How come Kuniska?
I mean, ALL east calls us Yunan, how could Chinese know our other ethnic name that is Selloi > Hellenes???
If this name Sheela is old enough (that is older than Greek independance at 1830) then it is a miracle!

Hi Christov. Have you good times in China? Are you there for business? Or tourism? Or both?

Can you ask ANY educated Chinese how old is that name Shila in their language?

I dont think the name Shela was acquired in antiquity probably modern adoption.

Greek knowledge of chinese is
5th century bc Ctesias wrote about Seres and Serica(he means china).
There were contacts via the IndoGreek and bactrian Kingdoms but i havent researched it.
There were Roman contacts that we know of later
Oriental Style

Hi! i am in China for bussiness, but having good time too. I asked my translator how old is the word "Silaa or Shilaa", but he doesn't know exactly. Even a search in internet could not help much, but anyway, they use it very very long time. Greetings!

In contrary I do believe that we have a miracle here!

We Greeks abandonned that name Selloi long time ago, that is before 5c BC. And after Roman conguers ONLY Greeks do have the name "Ellas" (not Sellas) for Greece!

So? How could Chinese people call Greece as Sila? If the name is a new adoption who said it to them ? An ancient Greek?

Thanks Christov!

Can anyone ask any Japanase or Korean people how do they call us?

Thanks for the site Olvios. I have already emailed Yeako!
