The Sun was a symbol of Hellenes, an emblem of all Greeks from antiquity up to the end of Byzantium as a decoration,in ancient Greece a religious symbol representing the Twelve Gods of Olympus. The true panhellenic symbol.

The point here is that this symbol doesnt belong to one particular Greek tribe but rather it was a symbol shared by many ancient greek cities.
