| March 23 1821 Petrobey Mauromixalis and 2000 Maniates capture Kalamata and he forms the Messinian Senate. In an attempt to gain support, Mauromixalis sends letters to all Christian countries asking for help.

The battle is inconclusive though costly for both sides. 23 March 1821 The city of Kalamata is being liberated from Ottoman rule.The Greeks are guided by Theodoros Kolokotronis,Papaflessas and Petros Mavromichalis. 23 March 1904 The "Chemical Laboratory of Ministry of Economics" that will later be renamed in "General Chemical laboratory of State" is founded . 23 March 1943 The archbishop of Athens Damaskinos and the chairmen of many professional organisations remonstrate with Prime Minister Konstantinos Logothetopoulos "in favour of the protection of Israelites of Greece".
