Οι αδελφοί μας και φίλοι είναι πανταχού έτοιμοι, οι Σέρβοι, οι Σουλιώται, και όλη η Ηπειρος, οπλοφορούντες μας περιμένωσιν· ας ενωθώμεν λοιπόν με Ενθουσιασμόν! η Πατρίς μάς προσκαλεί!

Η Ευρώπη, προσηλώνουσα τους οφθαλμούς της εις ημάς, απορεί διά την ακινησίαν μας, ας αντηχήσωσι λοιπόν όλα τα Όρη τής Ελλάδος από τον Ήχον τής πολεμικής μας Σάλπιγγος, και αι κοιλάδες από την τρομεράν κλαγγήν των Αρμάτων μας. Η Ευρώπη θέλει θαυμάση τας ανδραγαθίας μας, οι δε τύραννοι ημών τρέμοντες και ωχροί θέλουσι φύγει απ’ έμπροσθέν μας.

Οι φωτισμένοι λαοί της Ευρώπης ενασχολούνται εις την αποκατάστασιν της ιδίας ευδαιμονίας· και πλήρεις ευγνωμοσύνης διά τας προς αυτούς των Προπατόρων μας ευεργεσίας, επιθυμούσι την ελευθερίαν της Ελλάδος.

Ημείς, φαινόμενοι άξιοι της προπατορικής αρετής και του παρόντος αιώνος, είμεθα Εύελπεις, να επιτύχωμεν την υπεράσπισιν αυτών και βοήθειαν· πολλοί εκ τούτων φιλελεύθεροι θέλουσιν έλθη, διά να συναγωνισθώσι με ημάς. Κινηθήτε, ω φίλοι, και θέλετε ιδή μίαν Κραταιάν δύναμιν να υπερασπισθή τα δίκαιά μας! Θέλετε ιδή και εξ αυτών των εχθρών μας πολλούς, οίτινες, παρακινούμενοι από την δικαίαν μας αιτίαν, να στρέψωσι τα Νώτα προς τον εχθρόν και να ενωθώσι με ημάς· ας παρρησιασθώσι με ειλικρινές φρόνημα, η Πατρίς θέλει τους εγκολπωθή! Ποίος λοιπόν εμποδίζει τους ανδρικούς σας Βραχίονας; ο άνανδρος εχθρός μας είναι ασθενής και αδύνατος. Οι στρατηγοί μας έμπειροι και όλοι οι ομογενείς γέμουσιν ενθουσιασμού! ενωθήτε λοιπόν, ω ανδρείοι και μεγαλόψυχοι Έλληνες! ας σχηματισθώσι φάλαγκες εθνικαί, ας εμφανισθώσι Πατριωτικαί λεγεώνες, και θέλετε ιδή τους παλαιούς εκείνους Κολοσσούς του δεσποτισμού να πέσωσιν εξ ιδίων, απέναντι των θριαμβευτικών μας Σημαίων! Εις την φωνήν της Σάλπιγκός μας όλα τα παράλια του Ιωνίου και Αιγέου πελάγους θέλουσιν αντηχήση· τα Ελληνικά πλοία, τα οποία εν καιρώ ειρήνης ήξεραν να εμπορεύωνται, και να πολεμώσι, θέλουσι σπείρη εις όλους τους λιμένας του τυράννου με το πυρ και την μάχαιραν, την φρίκην και τον θάνατον...

Ποία ελληνική ψυχή θέλει αδιαφορήση εις την πρόσκλησιν της Πατρίδος; Εις την Ρώμην ένας του Καίσαρος φίλος σείων την αιματομένην χλαμύδα του τυράννου εγείρει τον λαόν. Tι θέλετε κάμη Σεις ω Έλληνες, προς τους οποίους η Πατρίς γυμνή δεικνύει μεν τας πληγάς της και με διακεκομμένην φωνήν επικαλείται την βοήθειαν των τέκνων της; Η θεία πρόνοια, ω φίλοι Συμπατριώται, ευσπλαγχνισθείσα πλέον τας δυστυχίας μας ηυδόκησεν ούτω τα πράγματα, ώστε με μικρόν κόπον θέλομεν απολαύση με την ελευθερίαν πάσαν ευδαιμονίαν. Αν λοιπόν από αξιόμεμπον αβελτηρίαν αδιαφορήσωμεν, ο τύραννος γενόμενος αγριώτερος θέλει πολλαπλασιάση τα δεινά μας, και θέλομεν καταντήση διά παντός το δυστυχέστερον πάντων των εθνών.

Στρέψατε τους οφθαλμούς σας, ω Συμπατριώται, και ίδετε την ελεεινήν μας κατάστασιν! ίδετε εδώ τους Ναούς καταπατημένους! εκεί τα τέκνα μας αρπαζόμενα διά χρήσιν αναιδεστάτην της αναιδούς φιληδονίας των βαρβάρων τυράννων μας! τους οίκους μας γεγυμνωμένους, τον αγρούς μας λεηλατισμένους και ημάς αυτούς ελεεινά ανδράποδα!

Είναι καιρός να αποτινάξωμεν τον αφόρητον τούτον Ζυγόν, να ελευθερώσωμεν την Πατρίδα, να κρημνίσωμεν από τα νέφη την ημισέληνον να υψώσωμεν το σημείον, δι’ ου πάντοτε νικώμεν! λέγω τον Σταυρόν, και ούτω να εκδικήσωμεν την Πατρίδα, και την Ορθόδοξον ημών Πίστιν από την ασεβή των ασεβών Καταφρόνησιν.

Μεταξύ ημών ευγενέστερος είναι, όστις ανδρειοτέρως υπερασπισθή τα δίκαια της Πατρίδος, και ωφελιμοτέρως την δουλεύση. Το έθνος συναθροιζόμενον θέλει εκλέξη τους Δημογέροντάς του, και εις την ύψιστον ταύτην Βουλήν θέλουσιν υπείκει όλαι μας αι πράξεις...

Ας κινηθώμεν λοιπόν μέ εν κοινόν φρόνιμα, oι πλούσιοι ας καταβάλωσιν μέρος της ιδίας περιουσίας, oι ιερoί ποιμένες ας εμψυχώσωσι τον λαόν με το ίδιόν των παράδειγμα, και oι πεπαιδευμένοι ας συμβουλεύσωσιν τα ωφέλιμα. Oι δε εν ξέναις αυλαίς υπουργούντες στρατιωτικοί και πολιτικοί ομογενείς, αποδίδοντες τας ευχαριστίας εις ην έκαστος υπουργεί δύναμιν, ας ορμήσωσιν όλοι εις το ανοιγόμενον ήδη μέγα και λαμπρόν στάδιον, και ας συνεισφέρωσιν εις την πατρίδα τον χρεωστούμενον φόρον, και ως γενναίoι ας ενοπλισθώμεν όλοι άνευ αναβολής καιρού με το ακαταμάχητον όπλον της ανδρείας και υπόσχομαι εντός ολίγου την νίκην και μετ' αυτήν παν αγαθόν. Πoίoι μισθωτοί και χαύνοι δούλοι τολμούν να αντιπαραταχθώσιν απέναντι λαού, πολεμούντος υπέρ της ιδίας ανεξαρτησίας; Μάρτυρες oι Ηρωικοί αγώνες των προπατόρων μας· Μάρτυς η lσπανία, ήτις πρώτη και μόνη κατετρόπωσε τας αηττήτους φάλαγκας ενός τυράννου.

Με την Ένωσιν, ω Συμπολίται, με το προς την ιεράν Θρησκείαν Σέβας, με την προς τους Νόμους και τους Στρατηγούς υποταγήν, με την ευτολμίαν και σταθηρότητα, η νίκη μας είναι βεβαία και αναπόφευκτος, αυτή θέλει στεφανώση μέ δάφνας αειθαλείς τους Ηρωικούς αγώνας μας, αυτή με χαρακτήρας ανεξαλείπτους θέλει χαράξη τα ονόματα ημών εις τον ναόν της αθανασίας, διά το παράδειγμα των επερχομένων γενεών. Η Πατρίς θέλει ανταμείψη τα ευπειθή και γνήσιά της τέκνα με τα βραβεία της δόξης και τιμής· τα δε απειθή και κωφεύοντα εις την τωρινήν της πρόσκλησιν, θέλει αποκηρύξη ως νόθα και Ασιανά σπέρματα, και θέλει παραδώση τα ονόματά των, ως άλλων προδότων, εις τον αναθεματισμόν και κατάραν των μεταγενεστέρων.

Ας καλέσωμεν λοιπόν εκ νέου, ω Ανδρείοι και μεγαλόψυχοι Έλληνες, την ελευθερίαν εις την κλασικήν γην της Ελλάδος! Ας συγκροτήσωμεν μάχην μεταξύ του Μαραθώνος και των Θερμοπυλών! Ας πολεμήσωμεν εις τους τάφους των Πατέρων μας, οι οποίοι, διά να μάς αφήσωσιν ελευθέρους, επολέμησαν και απέθανον εκεί! Το αίμα των τυράννων είναι δεκτόν εις την σκιάν τον Επαμεινώνδου Θηβαίου, και του Αθηναίου Θρασυβούλου, οίτινες κατετρόπωσαν τους τριάκοντα τυράννους, εις εκείνας του Αρμοδίου και Αριστογείτωνος, οι οποίοι συνέτριψαν τον Πεισιστρατικόν ζυγόν, εις εκείνην του Τιμολέοντος, όστις απεκατέστησε την ελευθερίαν εις την Κόρινθον και τας Συρακούσας, μάλιστα εις εκείνας τον Μιλτιάδου και Θεμιστοκλέους, του Λεωνίδου και των τριακοσίων, οίτινες κατέκοψαν τοσάκις τους αναριθμήτους στρατούς των βαρβάρων Περσών, των οποίων τους βαρβαροτέρους και ανανδροτέρους απογόνους πρόκειται εις ημάς σήμερον, με πολλά μικρόν κόπον, να εξαφανίσωμεν εξ ολοκλήρου.

The outbreak of the Northern Epirotan armed struggle. Turk-Albanian elements, consisting of a force of about 700 armed men,attempt to invade the village of Vouno in Cheimarra but are repulsed after a fierce fight by elements of the army of Autonomous Northern Epirus. Georgios Karaiskakis, whose forces have encamped in Keratsini, Piraeus, repulses attacks by Kiutahi pasha, the first by a force of 800 men, and on the next day, March 4th, by a force of 6.000 infantry and cavalry men. This successful encounter with the Turks is one of Karaiskakis' most brilliant victories.

Archbishop of Athens and All of Greece Damaskinos is born in Dorvitsa, Aetoloacarnania. During the Nazi Occupation he will contribute to the rescue of the largest part of the Jews in the region of Athens ordering the Greek orthodox church to issue false baptismal certificates to those threatened with deportation.After the end of WW2 he will serve as regent of Greece in the absense of the King.

Death of the Cypriot fighter of the EOKA struggle against the British, Grigoris Afxentiou. He was burnt alive while fighting, surrounded by the British soldiers who poured petrol in the cave he was hiding and ignited it.
