The Pasha Abdoul with Jewish troops from Thessaloniki burn down 120 villages and the city of Naousa. Over 5000 massacred and 6000 women/children sold slaves.

April 6 1941

German troops begin their assault against the Metaxas line, the phase of Hellinic history known as the "Battle of the Forts" (Μαχη των Οχυρων).

During the "Battle of the Forts" (Μαχη των Οχυρων) 6-11 April 1941 the casualties on the Hellinic side were a mere 7 dead and 23 wounded while the German casualties reached 555 dead 2134 wounded and 170 missing in action (these numbers do not include officers).

April 6 648 BC

Lod Byron dies from pneumonia in Messologi. The entire country mourns his death.

Occupation of fortress Passava by the souvereign of Mani Tzannetos Grigorakis where he slaughters Turk-Albanian troops.

The rebels under the leadership of Nikitaras and Duovouniotis, capture Saint Marina and enter Stylida.

2 April 1943

Resignation of second occupation government, of which Prime Minister was professor o Logothetopoulos. The same day our submarine "Katsw'nis", sinks in the bay of Gythion after hitting a German mine.

Mitilini is freed.

Students of the High school and College of Pafos, chanting the National Anthem and the slogan of "Enosis", clash with powerful English forces.

Emperor Vasileios B Voulgaroktonos (Bulgar Slayer) releases the fortress of Edessa which was held by Bulgarians.


9 April 1821


The Turks arrest and jail the notable population of Athens, result the city's tragic situation.


9 April 1825

Victory of our forces in Davcheia.


9 April 1897


After the declaration of our Hellinic-Turkish war our troops jump into battle, on the Metsovo border and clashes with the there situated Turkish army. The same day our troops abandon the sector of Nezerou and are placed in Dereli.


9 April 1941

The forts on the Hellinic-Bulgarian border continue the heroic defence. After the retreat of Yugoslavian defence the Germans pass the fortified locality and enter in Thessaloniki. The Forts are forced to interrupt the fight after. Germans under direct orders from Hitler congratulate the heroes that defended their country. In these exact same orders from Hitler, all Hellinic soldiers due to their heroic resistance are to be set free after they abandon their arms, in contrast to those captured in other countries that were driven to concentration camps.
