Let us not forget Greece was the most dominant of any of the qualifyers in any group, earning an impressive 31 of 36 points.

I think Greece will be competitive, but lacking talent in the midfield.

Sotiris Kyrgiakos is a clumsy yellow card machine... Nikopolidis is better than Chalkias and Nikopolidis is starting to make far too many mistakes in his old age. For sure Sifakis should have played in this tournament.

Right back is solid with Seitaridis
Left Back disappointed and a big mistake not having Lagos play in this tournament...massive massive mistake.

Left back is going to kill us and the opposition will be looking to exploit this weakness

Midfield, will like to see Stelios, Tziolis and Katsouranis in the middle with Karagounis as an attacking midfield.

Gekas & Samaras should start every match I would like to think...they are both absolute guns and possibly the best forward set up in this competition.

So all in all not a bad side... we will cop goals from teams putting in easy crosses from our left back side.

Leaving Lagos out is a huge, massive mistake.

That;s right so you never know how things can work out in your favour, besides any of you guys became wealthy on spreadbetting on Greece winning the Championship?

I agree on the midfield point you are making but definetly disagree on the left back, i think Spyropoulos is probably the best left back i've see Greece have in the longest time, the guy has a stamina of a horse and a really good player. We could've had some better players (in my opinion) for midfield, i would've like to see Skoufalis, Fotakis and Stoltidis in our team for midfield, i know Stoltidis turn down the offer which sucks, also for fowards i m not crazy about Charisteas or Samaras, they have no ball control skills, (maybe Samaras kind of) but i would've like to see Choutos in the line up, for midfileld i would've also like to see some youth, like Ninis and Dimoutsos both talented young players, and for defense Papastathopoulos and Avraam Papadopoulos. But i most definetly agree on our right back being solid, Seitaridis is the man, i was reading this before, and at the end it talks about him.

Although this team is much better offensively than in 2004, they are weaker on defence, and this in the end will hurt us.
Our Goaltending is awful. Any idea who is going to start in net???
I would go with Halkias, Nikopolidis is finished , too old.

Don't believe Spyropoulos is up to international standard taking on Europe's best right-wingers

The sad thing is that Nikopolidis is the best goalie, and like Mygdonia said also Sifakis but he is not on the team, defense is pretty much the same, Kapsis and Fyssas are missing, Kapsis was great but Fyssas i never really liked him, i remember the game against Spain Joaquin took him to the cleaners, they had to sub him out and put Venetidis in his place, but i like Kyrgiakos he is clumsy but strong and great with headers, unlike Antzas who is also tall like Kyrgiakos but he lacks in the air and also easy to push around.

Alot of good teams were trying to get him before Panathinaikos got him, i remember Schalke being one of them. I also forgot to mention the next great right back ( in my opinion) Galitzios, that kid is sick, its pretty scary he looks better than Seitaridis right now, i think he is going to be a star.

Tzavelas is pretty good for left wing back too.
