Lets take a look now to a couple of American newspapers back in the beginning of last century.

25 March 1901

The same article from a closer look. Notice the lines in red.

All reports are verifying There were Bulgarians living in the region and of course not even as a joke, any "Macedonian"

So the Brigands whom our FYROMian parrots are so proud of were Bulgarians.

More to come soon.

Default The first Greek newspapper during Ottoman rule!!!

People, I've been reading about the first greek newspaper ΕΙΔΗΣΙΣ, that was released in 1790. Poulios Markides from Siatista in Makedonia, was the man behind the idea of a newspaper that was released in Wien for the Hellenic community there. It lasted for 7 years and a full archive of the paper was found in a library in Romania. Does anybody know anything? We should try to find some samples asap.

What is interresting is that the newspaper is billingual (Greek and Serbian) and what is more interresting is that the Serbian part of the newspaper is mentioned as Illyriki.

"Illyrism" was an artificial national-romantic movement from Slovenia to Serbia from early 19th century and which was one of the precursors of latter Yugoslavism.Illyrism was named so because of the popular views in naive historiography developed mostly in Croatia that South-Slavs are descendants of the ancient Illyrians."Illyrian" is a common name for Serbian and Croatian languages found in various, including some Western circles, from 17th to early 19th century.

The Markides Poulios brothers, from. Siatista, who were printers in Vienna, were expelled from there for publishing the works of Regas. Here one from the work

Thanks for the usefull information Vasiliye. Basically at that time Greeks seem to have been using "Illirika" instead of "Servika" for the Serbo-Croatian language.
