Hmmm. It actually reminds me of the statement of Eleytherios Venizelos, prime minister of Greece, when he imposed the redistribution of the lands of Thessaly, from the wealthy landowners to the poor farmers who cultivated them:
"It was not possible for slaves to free other slaves".
The poor Thessalian farmers were like slaves in their own land, because the Greek state had initially agreed to withold all of the Ottoman property rights in the lands that were liberated. The Muslim Ottoman feudal elite who owned the land were so afraid that they sold their properties for dimes and fled, but they were instantly replaced by a Christian Greek feudal elite who saw the opportunity and bought the lands from the Turks.
Venizelos had to change all of that if he was to turn those peasants into soldiers willing to fight the Ottoman army, and he succeeded. Greece was doubled in size and population during the Balkan wars...
...But most of rural Macedonia was still owned and operated by Muslim overlords until the Balkan wars, just as Thessaly was before it was liberated by the Greek army. Those stupid motherfuckers, while picking at the Ottoman archives, shall only uncover the vast unfairness of the Muslim regime towards its non-Christian subjects. They shall be totally confused by the fact that the most of the Christian and Muslim impoverished farmers were not forced and did not acquire surnames.
Those Malakedonians are just going to prove how inept morons they are...
