You're wrong about the Karakachans.They were always Greek speaking and never spoke Vlach or any other language.Even their culture is different from the Vlachs.The basic difference is that while the Vlachs had permanent residences in a village or town,the Karakachans were nomads,wandering from place to place and living in cabins on the mountains without any house in a village or a town.During the Macedonian struggle they became earnest supporters of the Greek andartes,providing them food,hideout and some times fighters,like the well known Makedonomachos Kostas Garefis.The Karakachans in Greece became permanent residents in a concrete place only after WW2.Many people confuse them and call the Karakachans Vlachs due to the common pastoral life but they are different people.

I love seeing Paeonian Bulgars denying the (census confirmed) Greek minority in FYROM, it exposes their supposedly "humanitarian" concerns regarding alleged Greek "denial of a Macedonian [sic] minority" as little more than self-serving hypocrisy.

Btw, our forum member Dava-G is 50% Sarakatsan and is very involved with their community. I will try to make him write some things here or maybe an article. We can all say whatever we want, but the best is to hear it from the insiders.

The theory that the Sarakachans weren't initialy Hellenophones was invented by some Bulgarian historians in order to justify the attempt of the Bulgarization of those Sarakachans who stayed in Bulgarian soil after the Balkan wars.
