I disagree guys... You have to start somewhere, and why not Panama.

You can't expect superpower countries like China to be the first to withdraw... It will start with countries with which we have leverage. They will realize that they have more to gain with having Greece as an ally rather than Skopia. I bet most of these 'banana republics' have more to gain from having good relations with Greece rather than a new mercedes.

If this continues and more and more countries begin withdrawing their recognition, then the 'indifferent' countries may start doing the same

This is both right and wrong by the way... at the end of the day its EU and NATO that will decide where the dispute will lead...

...BUT small 'wins' like this is what increases our advantage... it humiliates them, wears them down, puts more pressure on them, and lowers their expectations

This is great news!!!

We can easily convince such countries like Panama to support us.If we intimidated them that we will stop the banana imports from Panama...I really wonder what could gain such countries by recognizing FYROM and risking their good relations with Greece.I don't see any other plausible explanation except the pressure of Bush-tides.

In Expectance of Reply

The Commission accepted Gruevskis letter, which raises the issue of an alleged "Macedonian minority" in Greece, in a frosty way. A spokesman reported that the Commission will answer in due time, after the letter is assessed by the competent services, adding that the Commission never answers in the heat of the moment. Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis stated that the EU has been fully briefed about the Greek positions.

Meanwhile, three days after FYROM (Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia) PMs letter to Mr Barroso, a UN member-state is changing its stance against Skopje. After meeting with Ms Bakoyannis, Panama Ambassador to Greece Antonio Fotis-Takis Otsoa assures Greece that Panama will abide to the relevant UN resolutions on this countrys name for bilateral and international use. In its bilateral relations with Skopje, Panama has been using the neighbouring countrys constitutional name since 2002.

Could it be that the USA have something to do with this? I mean thier influence in Panama is big and this would be a way to send Gruevski a "message"....

i think the US has a finger in this.

Many reports are saying that the US is not happy with looney nationalist Gruevski and this is a small warning to their puppet that has gone bananas..

I know Gruevski, FYROM and their lame diaspora (including Maknuts) will continue their hardcore shortsighted stance. more slaps will come their way.
