Patriotic Receipts Mandatory in Macedonia 01 July 2008 Skopje _ Thousands of shop owners in Macedonia have been rushing out to buy the necessary software to issue patriotic receipts ahead of a deadline. Macedonian retailers could face fines of up to 5000 if an inspection finds out they are not issuing Patriotic transaction receipts that show separately the amount spent on locally-produced products. The shopkeepers say they have waited until deadline in the hope that the Government would change its mind and pull the project which is envisaged to promote the buying of products made in the country. It will hardly motivate people to buy more Macedonian products, a shopkeeper from Skopje told Balkan Insight, this is invented to fill the budget through the backs of the common citizens. Some say the whole idea defies common sense since their businesses rely exclusively on import products. Car dealers, dentists, and cosmeticians are among those who say they will appeal to the constitutional court. Why should I buy the software when there will be no Macedonian products on my receipt since in my branch they do not exist, a private dentist from Prilep told local daily Dnevnik. Local media estimate that some 50,000 stores across the country would have to pay up to 3 million to the computer companies for the software upgrade. They pay from 50 to 200 for the service. ![]() Macedonia's inflation in June peaks above 10%: Makfax 1 July 2008 | 17:02 | FOCUS News Agency Skopje. Inflation rate in Macedonia is likely to remain well above the target, as Consumer Price Index (CPI) continued to rise sharply in June, the Macedonian Makfax agency reports. According to figures released Tuesday by the Macedonian State Statistical Office, the CPI rose by 10.1% in June 2008 compared to June 2007. The CPI soared 0.3% in June compared to May. The Retail Price Index (RPI), the measure of inflation which includes the cost of housing and council tax, rose by 8.4% in June 2008 compared to June 2007, up 0.8% from May. The consumer basket for food and non-alcoholic beverages per four-member household stood at 12.333 denars (1 euro = about 61 denars) in June, calculated on the basis of retail prices. The consumer basket is down 0.7% comparing to previous month, the agency says. The too high rise in inflation rate, that went beyond the experts' forecasts, has been driven by increasing utility and food bills, in particular the 15% rise in fruit prices. The country witnessed soaring prices of oil derivatives (7.7%) and travel arrangements (7%), pushing up the overall price level. The prices for accommodation services and kitchen appliances were in moderate rise.

![]() Prices & Inflation Rising in Macedonia 01 July 2008 Skopje _ Macedonias consumer price index, a key indicator for inflation, was more than 10 percent higher in June compared to the same month last year, the State Statistical Office says. Compared to May 2008, the prices of goods rose 0.3 percent. The prices of food, especially of fruit as well as those of petroleum, tourist activities and consumer electronics contributed most to the rising index, the office said. On the other hand, the prices of vegetables and clothes decreased. The total value of the consumer basket for food and beverages for a four-member household in the month of June, calculated on the basis of retail prices, is 12,333 denars [about 200] and in comparison with the previous month, it is lower by 0.7 percent. The prices of goods in the country have been rising since the beginning of the year. The government and the national bank argue that the trend of high inflation is much set by the global developments and that Macedonia alone can not do much to tackle it. They say that the cumulative inflation should not exceed 6 percent annually. Copyright BalkanInsight.com 2008

Why do I smell a RAT here? Most probably because the original FORBE'S article makes NO REFERENCE!!! to their country either under the name they'd like to be acknowledged by nor under the proper FYROM.. just like neither does the related video make reference to them. Just BS to put blinkers on the eyes of the cattle.. cattle, cause they're beyond the state of being titled simple sheep.
