Default 2 big myths we firmly believe in

By 'we', I mean most of my countrymen, including close family
You already know this, but stay with me for a second...

1. Alexander was Macedonian the same way we are, so 'we cannot give the name we had for over 2000 years'.

2. Our dear Macedonia was split into several parts in 1913. The secret part of the Bucharest agreement says we should get the other parts back if we are called 'Macedonia' in 2013, therefore Greece is pushing us to change name.

These ideas have been propagated through rumours (even by most history teachers) and noone looks at external sources to check for their authenticity. Doing so is considered treason of the greatest kind. Whenever I bring this up with my family, I get the same answer:

"You're supporting the Greeks? F*** off!"

What the hell am I supposed to do? I'm so sick of this dispute that I don't mind ANY name that Greece has proposed (with the exception of RM(Skopje), which is idiotic and most fyromians hate skopje people for their arrogance and calling everyone else 'provincials').

Any constructive advice is appreciated.

Sufficient to say that most of my relatives denounced me.I excluded them from my last will and legally rejected any mutual obligations and rights (for exemple being my decision-making representative in front of medical team if I'm incapacitated or something alike) .But frankly, I am the one who gave them all the 4 letter words you can think of.

Yea, but what you are going to do?As far as I know, no Greek journal published my letters. There are couple of my papers in a peer-reviewed journal on the way, but they have exclusive audience and that is no more than a debate in a hermetic community.I'm not a TV magnate or something, so that's it.Maybe a Parliamentory deputy or ex-General or somebody like that would be of their interest, but even that contact wouldn't be very productive.

This status quo won't stand.I'm just having fun pushing in the right direction, that's it.

A Greek free-lance journalist approached me, promissed to put some of my text on an authoritative Greek website representing alternative rightist media, he reviewed them, but it did not happened, instead he gaved me in following days some text to translate from the FYROMian press..........once, twice, thrice........the fourth time I said to him: "Do I look like a damn technician or something?Am I suppose do believe that you don't have a translator in your media house?Well if you don't , get a 19 year old translation secretary, with her you'll get the paperwork done and plus a little bit fun of a kind you can't have with me.Bye"

I don't think that this problem, purely internaly (because Greek veto is already there), for the sake of "us" can be solved via, I don't know, symposiums or TV debate or via NGO's.When Marija Stankovska, a PhD of paleography commented on the nonsense of that serious claim that the Rossetta Stone contains modern FYROMian was published by "MANU", the massive campaigne started against her because she has a Greek husband, and yes "logically (in collective psychosis that goes under the name logic in this bananistat" she is a "quisling"..........

Something of a more tectonic nature is needed.Little bit of red liquid out, have no illusion about that.

surferx first of all welcome!
Second, nice to meet you.
Third, I know that there's a reason your people adopted that name. No matter how it turned out to be nowadays, it is not because of its ancient history but rather to recent events. It is understandable, but the thing got the way it did because the ancient macedonia romantism.

What you're supposed to do cannot be a final conclusion here at once. I guess interresting discussions will follow while you're around.

1. Alexander was Macedonian the same way we are, so 'we cannot give the name we had for over 2000 years'.

ME: Me an my people of Macedonia feel the same way, as we are from this historical land. We call our people Endpouis," Makedonia Alexandros" We live with in the historical lands

2. Our dear Macedonia was split into several parts in 1913. The secret part of the Bucharest agreement says we should get the other parts back if we are called 'Macedonia' in 2013, therefore Greece is pushing us to change name.

ME:Our motherland was freed from bondage and Turkish rule- Freedom came in 1913 and we chased the Bulgars out, Macedonia is free and we live to tell the story today, the true hellenic spirit was restored again-BTW Us Makedones are worses than the southerners about Hellenic Pride- Many as you have left lerra on our people and the place we came from

We can prove what we say about our history,

Serferx seems spot on and maybe that's why "they" are so against name changing again it's the conspirational theories that are doing the damage.......

This is called in Greek "cafeneio" politics. It consists of repeating something you heard from your father or aunt or from some other prophet of the truth in an another cafeneio. In Greece there is much of this too about different issues.

This kind of almost supersticious cafeneio politiking is part of political culture in every country, but probably more so in FYROM because its recent communist past an the massive re-education it went through under Yugoslavia since 1944.

This is what i was saying all along! but everytime a "native" fyromian claims there is no such "animosity" with the Skopians...besides i personally experience the Skopiand the northerners as totally different stock then most southern Fyromians..but because of insufficient historical research we can't differentiate our selves from the Skopians due to propaganda and falsification of our real heritage which might very well be the exact opposite from the Skopian cultural heritage what we might call:" a core of Bulgarian chauvinism".
