Relationships between Greeks and FYROMians in Diaspora

I have a question to the Diaspora Greeks.
How is the social and professional relationships between Greeks and Skopjans ?
I have heard that usually there are tensions between the communities. Especially in Australia (beer maybe will be the cause)

There is much animosity and not because of beer .

there are many traitors with Greek names like Stefou and they are the most highly propagandised kind of of all.

i grew up with these people. yes there was tension. as you know they themselves were and are still trying to create an identity using ancient macedonian history, which caused a little tension during high school.

As a young kid i attended soccer games between Hellas Melbourne & Preston Makedonia (Slav team) and could not beleive my eyes. the hate they had towards greeks. young kids with a real anti-greek attitude & hate. What in the world does a young kid know.

i was about 8 and attended my first game between these two teams at their ground. there were slavs all dressed in red all wearing t-shirts of macedonia which included all of agean macedonia. real nationalistic sh&%.

you guys should know all this, it has made world headlines. the brawls at the soccer where people have been stabbed, bricks, rocks, thrown, etc.. etc..

I was 16 at the time of all the protests in 92 and went to school and had many slavmacedonian friends from Florina and Fyrom.

some were thick, completely, confused. but majority were just like any other european people living in melbourne.

one thing that gets me is why they are so anti-greek? we have done nothing to these people. we have been at war with the turks for how many years and not even the turks provoke and insult us like these uneducated slavs.

some elder generation people from Florina that I know, are completely anti-greek. They associate themselves with the SlavMacedonians. They speak greek, but hate greeks, passionately.

your gonna love this one. Apparently at one of their Slav Orthodox churches in Melbourne they have a picture or icon on the wall of Alexander the Great spearing a dead Tsolia??? Go figure. thats how F-----D up these people are.

Is Fetal Alcohol Syndrome a diagnosis that is possible for all these Slavs? It would explain a great deal. If you have ever worked with those who suffer from this, you know what I mean.

At the moment not much - basically because when they play games at Prestons (Skopjeans) ground the South Melbourne supporters (Greeks) arent allowed in, and vice-versa... I, personally, am a Heidelberg United supporter (Greek Macedonian Club) and we still play them, but the crowds arent as big so there isnt much violence to speak of...

From what I can tell you, I cant WAIT for the Australia vs Greece match, because FOR SURE some idiot Skopjean will decide to be a hero and pull out a flag with the symbol of Vergina and is going to get his a$$ wooped something shocking! Im going there in a bunch of 24 (all of us with the symbol of vergina wrapped around us), so I cant wait for these idiots to try something... BRING IT ON BABY! :thumbs:

Mt honest evaluation of the situation is this. When politics are not mentioned then Greeks and Skops can get on very well.
As orthodox Christians we do have alot more in common then we do with most other nationalities.
I would say though that they have a higher proportion of nationalists per capita the the Greeks do and they are just some realy stupid people.
I remember the conversation Big takis and I had about calling them box/Block heads and all jokes aside, they are realy viewed as stupid people, hence the name they have been given.
Not to say the Greeks are not nationalistic, but we actualy do have more going on in our lives then dreaming about the unfication of something they never owned. Greeks are more likely to be educated, be in politics and hold higher paid jobs then the Skops.
They are seen as an annoyance to us, but it is nothing we can not handle.
The Skops are renowned for living in Big houses, driving some slick or overarted big cars but they also renowned for taking out massive loans to feed their own egos. Their parents are renowned for working at Telstra(Australian phone company), or sydney water (australian water company), earn their average wage and own minimal assetts. Name me one rich or successful Skop in Australia off the top of your head? It is a very hard thing to do.
