I have read the Poulianos and the work of Sarakatsani SARAKATSANI - THE MOST ANCIENT PEOPLE OF EUROPE Either accept and respect the paleanthropology , though I am very sceptical as about to say that the specific group be able to name as the "more" ancient Europeans. |

The truth is that Poulianos has the whole Russian athropology school on his side. Considering that they are: 1) The pioneers of paleanthropology, 2) the most "panslavism" fanatics, they seem to respect him at a very high level. Don't forget that Poulianos studied in the former USSR together with the giants of this science. However, their language is very primitive and that is the most interesting about them. I'm considering getting in touch with their online community and get information about it. Last edited by Flipper; 09-12-2006 at 04:56 PM. |

I have read that the Sarakatsani were nomads, not semi-nomads like the vlachs. Unlike the vlachs, the Sarakatsani didn't have a village. They lived in huts and they went from one place to another. It is said that certain DNA tests have shown that they are an indigenous population in Greece since the prehistoric time. |

That was a good read, I never knew about this tribe of Greeks and Poulianos seems to make some intersting findings not only on the Sarakatsani but on the greek people as well. I found some intersting maps on a romanian site, i can't vouch for their authenticity or accuracy but are still interesting. http://www.eliznik.org.uk/RomaniaHis...atsani-map.htm http://www.eliznik.org.uk/EastEurope.../Greek-Sax.htm http://www.eliznik.org.uk/EastEurope...ek-Kiepert.htm Last edited by Slayer; 09-13-2006 at 10:12 PM. |
