Default Possible acceptable names by both sides

I don't know if there has been such a discussion previously in this forum, but it would be interesting to know if alternative names exist.I think that sooner or later Greece and FYROM should find a solution to the name dispute, which is the only problem between the two countries.
Which names could be accepted by both sides?
FYROM needs the support of Greece, financial support now, perhaps political support tomorrow. If FYROM wants to become a EU meber,an agreement should be reached between the two counties.
So what names could be used?
What about Republic of Slavic Macedonia(RoSM)?
Is it a possible name?

Comendable that you are being construct mate. Keep it up. However with that particular name. No way. That's giving away way too much. Our relatives defended Macedonia and the rest of Greece from these guys, now they expect to wrestle away our heritage? Our very own history and culture. Forget it. They have to accept who they are first, and as I understand it, many of them do. However, way too many do not.

I agree.. That's giving away too much as well.. Problem is, I think we have already given away too much - and that it'll be too hard to find an acceptable solution with them, without the use of the word "Macedonia" unfortunately!

Our government has already shown that it will accept a name with the word "Macedonia" in it, so I think the only way forward is to do the same...

Personally, I think Republic of Vardar Macedonia (RoVM) sounds good...

I'm sure we have had this discussion a while ago but I think its great timing to discuss again as we have so many more members.

I would call their country United Balkan Republic. A great name for a multiethnic state like FYROM.

I think Dardania sounds nice or Vardaksa. Names that were in use for this region in the past.

But, it looks like they won't delete the name Macedonia from their title.

How about the Former Yugoslav Republic of Malakes!!! It fits right ah. He He He!!!

I think if Greece accepts any name with Macedonia in it, they are selling their souls.

Anything with Macedonia in it is dead wrong. It is irresponsible. It is selling our culture, and it is shit for the world as well. Once this habit of manufacturing history through lies becomes acceptable, then we are all screwed. Who are the sell outs pushing for this crap? What is in it for them? I don't buy it is for peace. Look what happened when Chamberlain "negotiated" peace.

lets just make it clear as well that the acceptance of the name Republic of Macedonia-Skopje by any Greek politician is an act of treason

any idiot (even karamanlis) can realise that if such a name were adopted it would simply revert to 'Macedonia'

stous makedones reei aima ellhniko, sta gyftakia den 8a dwsoume to onoma auto

With the interim accord they accept that the name of their country will be defined by Hellas and by themselves. So,"macedonia" and other combined names are out of the question. They should chose a name that represents them. They will get used NOT to use Greek terms in the same way they learnt to do so._

I have stated several times that every country member of UN has a name AND AN ADJECTIVE for exclusive use.

Thus Greece proposed the name Makedonija-Skopje and two equal adjectives: Macedonian and Skopian. They will say Macedonian and we will say Skopian. In that case Greece could not use the term Macedonian BUT INTERNALY. Could FYROM and Greece make an aggreement that allows Greece to use the term Macedonian outside of Greece? NO! Because if FYROM is named Macedonia then it will be a Human Right of its people to get named Macedonian and stop any other people from being called Macedonian.

If the name has the word Macedonia then the adjective Macedonian will be adopted by all world, soon or later. This is UNACCEPTABLE. For me the name of FYROM could contain the term Macedonia but not the word Macedonia isolated. Names like Novomacedonia, Gornomacedonia, Velikmacedonia, Pravomacedonia, Kurvamacedonia are acceptable by me. At that case the adjective will be Novomacedonian .... Let me tell you that New Yorkers are not Yorkers... But I prefer a name with no Macedonia. After all, what is Macedonian there? language, heroes, people, names, toponyms, ..... WHAT ??
