Now if the Turks had the Greeks Politcal Brain, and the Greeks had the Turks Military capabilities, it would be a force to reckon with. Maybe there are bigger strings at play to make sure there is never a Greek/Turkish alliance. Just a passing thought.

Even though I agree with the first part of this comment I could never foresee any alliance between the 2 countries, at least nowhere in the near future. Turkeys present style of government will never allow such a thing. Also, there needs to be acknowledgement of the crimes commited by the Turkish government in past against the Armenians and the Pontian Greeks. In order for a country to move on and evolve properly they must first acknowledge mistakes made in the past. I know it is not only Turkey that commited mass atrocities around the world, but also the Big Powers. But this is a regional issue between Turkey and its former holdings.
I will agree thought that there has always been behind the scenes involvement by the big powers to retain the status quo. They have done both good and bad for both Greece and Turkey with the worst being Cyprus.

Yeah ok, but do you seriously sit out and measure these things? Also the % argument doesnt work anywhere else on the planet (when it comes to wars) why would it start in Cyprus? Wars generally arise out of want of Power/Greed/Money/ which are all in the same anyhow. As stated in my previous posts, I dont doubt Turkey may have had other motives besides protecting the Turks of Cyprus. And I also wouldnt be suprised if there were other powers at be that may have dictated when/where the partition should occur.

My point was to show that the invasion by Turkey had nothing to do with protecting the Ethnic Turks in Cyprus, instead it had to do with what you posted "Power/Greed/Money/". I couldn't agree with you more about the powers dictating the boundaries of partition. This is also what Orphic was talking about; the involvement of the powers (England, U.S) that caused much of the upheaval and the military Junta in Greece and the attempted overthrow of the Cypriot government.
Now with that said Turkey would have also been complicit in those plans also otherwise they would have never been prepared for any invasion. Turkey had power for many years due solely to its Geographic location and it was the furthest east the U.S had bases. The U.S is the one that allowed Turkey to continue to flourish militarily until recent years(the first Gulf War). Now that Turkey is no longer strategic they no longer have a reason to fund Turkey militarily or economically.
