Ok, so is there anyone in the diaspora who has done the service? I recently went to the stratologo in the sydney proxinio and he told me with my military defferment papers i only need to do a month and a half (45 days) should i stay in Greece for more than 6 months in one year.
Does anyone recommend doing it? Also, what's it like ie are you sent to border patrols, what do you learn? I also heard if you have a degree you're put in the offices, is this true?
Finally, who do i contact should i wish to do it? Appreciate any help on this vague and unclear topic

When i was in the Greek army there was a lot of guys that were from Canada,Australia,Germany some of them was in the army for 45 days, some for 3 months and a guy that was for 6 months..
You should know that even if you have a degree is not for sure that you will be in a office but dont be afraid of the army,me for example,i was sad when i have to live..
If you have to service only for 45 days you will not even understand whats going on...

What's the regulation and requirements for serving 45 days? That's gotta be one of the shortest military service periods in the world.

I remembered something funny from the time of my military service. When i enlisted in the air force camp of Tripoli,as i was waiting along many other recruits outside of the department where we had to be registered,i was talking with a guy from Xanthi.I told him that Xanthi was a wonderful city although there were many Turks living but when i saw later his identification card,i noticed that his name was something like Ahmet Mustafa...as the advertisement says, some times it's better to chew than to talk.

When the stratologo told me that i had to ask him to repeat it, as i didn't believe him. I'd do that after a holiday when i run out of money haha
