The word Dervenion(Δερβένιον) is known from two thinks. The first one is from the famous Macedonian Tombs and the second from the Indipedence and the famous battle of Kolokotronis against Dramalis.
Skopjan claim that this Turkish (as we knew) origin word is Slavic, theirs dictionaries mention this word as archaic!!!!

But what is the real meaning and origin of this word?

The word Derveni-Δερβένιον has two meanings:
-narrow pass(Modern Greece: A Narrative of a Residence and Travels in that Country by Henry Martyn Baird
(page 265)

-a military company that guard a narrow pass (Narrative of a Journey in the Morea by William Gell , page 169)

a Turkish show me one other link

Dictionary of turkish language institude (http://www.tdk.gov.tr/TDKSOZLUK/sozbul.asp?KELIME=derbent+&YENIARAMA=+++Ara)

and the explainations are:

Propably derivative of Persian word derbend or derbent.

1.Narrow pass between mountains
2.Small border fortress

I google this word and I found amazing thinks.

Derbent (Дербе́нт) (Persian (http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Persian+language) دربند Darband) is the southernmost city in the Russian Federation (http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Russia), and it is the second most important city of Dagestan (http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Dagestan), with a population of over 90,000. The Azeris are the main ethnic group, followed by Lezgins (http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Lezgins) and Tabasarans.
Russian=Дербе́нт
Skopjan=ДерBе́н
Of course the Russian pronounce the word as Derbent when the Skopjans as Derben.

Darband is built around a Sassanid (http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Sassanid) fortress, the only one preserved in the world. The fortress has been continuously used for some 1500 years.
Of course you can see clearly the Persian connection via this fort.

Darband is a former village, now a neighborhood inside Tehran (http://www.answers.com/topic/tehran)'s city limits. It is the beginning of a very popular hiking trail into the Alborz (http://www.answers.com/topic/elburz-mountains) mountain Toochal, which towers over Tehran.

The Persian word (دربند Darband) meaning "closed gates".

Darband is a gorge with a small river flowing .

You can see how similar meanings has the word. Of course trhe Skopjans follow theirs brainwash dictionaries.The word that we use today has Persian roots and not Turkish that we thaught. Of course Skopjans live in theirs illysions.

The Skopjans open as usual a thread after of course the MACEDONIA ON THE WEB:clap2:
http://www.maknews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1561

In the thread I want to mention something.
In the Cyrillic the second letter (like the Greek Bhta) has two sound and written forms

Б that sounds as Be
В that sounds as Ve

The Skopjans as usual make a la mkont derivations and try to play how sound the B.

Skopjan Piperkata mention that the Greeks

I understand that is hard for you Grks to understand the difference because you are missing the letter B in your alphabet.... B is written in Greek as MP......

Yes is very hard for the Greeks that has not the letter B but the MP in theirs ALPHA-BETE!!!!
