Loipon, i need pics of greeks who were fighting in macedonia in worldwar 2. I just found out that my great grandfather was fighting even after the defeat against the germans until the end of the civil war. My mother said she would be able to tell me who he is if she sees him on a pic.
PS: My greatgrand father was called "Metaxas" because of what he did in those days.

Battles between Greek army and German army never happened in the WW II in Macedonia. You said something as about the "Metaxa".
Metaxa called the defence line that composed of from forts and located in a place known as Ruppel. This place is in the borders between Bulgaria and Greece(East Macedonia-Thrace). Propably that you mean.

Apart from the Metaxas line as you mentioned.
Giourkas you told me that your grandfather fought all the way up until the civil war. Seeing as he had the nickname Metaxas, my guess is that he was fighting for EDES and not ELAS:p

Yeah he was called his whole life Metaxas from that time on :P I have to call my grandfather and ask him to tell me more about his father. In the beginning i thought they were calling him Metaxas because he may have been a heavy drinker *G* but my mother told me it was because of his time back WW2 and the civil war.
