I wan't to ask a question about Greek Cypriots.
I my self am a Greek Cypriot, im wondering how "Greek" are the Cypriots. I have always wonderd were the Greek Cypriots have originated from. Are we as Greek as any other Greek? Or are we decendents of another race and got strongly Hellenized?

I personaly think we are from Greece but explored Cyprus and stayed (I hope any way). We look the same, and we claim Greekness and Greek history.

The basic population of Cyprus formed as following during the Bronze age.

Eteocypriots
Arcadians
Dorians

The original Greek dialect of Cyprus is called Arcadocypriot.

If you ask me what the earliest inhabitants of Cyprus were I would let you judge from the image below. My suspicion is that they were partly Afroasiatic and Anatolian like other populations of Greece during neolithic times.

Also have a look at the original Eteocypriot Language. There's a small decipherment of it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eteocypriot
