My buddy who is of British decent, and has even lived there for spells has told me the Aussies have the term WOG all wrong. The Aussies can call us anything they want, but WOG, hahahaha, few,if any, uses that term up here, they don't even know what it means. FOr those that do, and if used correctly (as I understand it) it means like Arab or African black. These guys can't even insult people the right way. hahaha I have to admit, I am not insulted though. I know it means many of the Euro nations, including Greeks. Even the Skops are included. When I was there a Hungarian girl told me she was a wog.

ANyways, back to Greeks and other Euros, last I looked and checked, even to the dismay of Skops, we are not African, nor are we Semetic. hahaha This includes their Slav asses. (Although I did hear one English reference of wog reffering to us, just one though) Guys, I love the Aussies, but they are dumbasses, haha. WOGS, I'm laughing now. That's like calling the English the derogatory far east terms (use your imagination) or the Irish..., well lets not take that route now. ANyway, I know the Euros, especially the Greeks, don't give a shit about the term so it makes me laugh even more, but I still think they are dumbasses.  :nono:   No sense fighting it though.

I think the term wog actualy means having a cold or the flu.
Obviously the Aussies have also added new meaning to this term by refering to us Ethnics, especially from Europe as wogs.

I would say that is what the Aussies orginaly thought of the first wave of immigrants from Southern Europe.

Wog : flu or trivial illness
Wog : person of Mediterranean origin. A milder insult than the same word in the UK and perhaps elsewhere.

And according to the Australain National university Doctionary

Back to Index of Australian Words wog A minor illness such as a cold, a bug This is not the offensive word wog used in Australia to mean a migrant from southern ... wog used in Australia to mean a migrant from southern Europe, and in Britain to mean a non-white migrant. ... This Australian wog originally meant a nasty insect or bug and then came to mean a minor illness. ...
