Bitola, 14:00
Farmers from Prilep and Bitola areas massed Tuesday outside public prosecution office in Bitola, urging the executives at "Zito Bitola" milling plant to pay out 600.000 euros for the wheat the plant had purchased last year.

The enraged farmers threatened to seek asylum in Greece unless the milling plant pays its debt to wheat-growers, Makfax correspondent said.

The farmers blamed the Zito Bitola executives of fraud as they have issued invalid paychecks. The farmers said the entire case was of political background.

The protesting farmers gathered in the front of the office of Bitola's prosecutor Stevce Tasevski, urging him to explain why he didn't file charges against Zito Bitola's director Petre Ilievski, who issued invalid paychecks.

"We have been deprived from the right to protest. The prosecutor warned us that suspension of manufacturing process in Zito Bitola is a criminal act. We are not allowed to stage protests inside or outside the factory. We don't know where we should seek our rights," a farmer said.

The farmers will resume protests on Thursday. They will demand a meeting with Bitola prosecutor. They were to meet with the prosecutor on Tuesday, but the meeting was cancelled due to alleged trop of the prosecutor

LOL @ Pelagonija

LOL@ Zito Bitola

seriously though we should be doing everything in our power to "win over" the people of Southern FYROM in Pelagonia. We should be giving them jobs, setting up radio stations, the works. I heard Greek flags are already flying in Monastiri, this must continue

This region once had a massive Hellenic heart. It is indeed true that many are part of a lost generation of Greeks. We need to uncover this as well convince them that the skopjian fantasy is finished. They must know their lives will be better if they assimilate.

If Pelagonia becomes Greek enough then perhaps a Bulgarian conscience can become stronger in the East. Dissolution . Bulgarian daily papers advertise Bulgarian citizenship and many have taken up on the offer. Albanians are near Skopje.

We need to keep FYROM the hell away from the EU and dissolve FYROM in a favourable way to stop the Albanians getting too bigger peice

Am I getting ahead of myself??

The opening the Greek consulate was the big step. These people needs our help with the proper way. The FYROMians administration knows very well what is the situation as also and the Greek.
We must make short and clever steps. Not to be rush as Bulgarians.
The Albanians soon or later (propably because US now has Iran issue) unite with the kossovo. The majority of the Slavic people are against in any Bulgarian.

Well my friend, perhaps we're jumping a little too far ahead at this moment, but you do have very valid points. Especially about the Hellenic sentiment of the region, at least in the past. Remember, armed Slav groups pushed through parts of Macedonia 100 or so years ago and murdered Slavopnone Greeks who did not renounce their Hellenic roots and identity.

Anyway, funny how they chose Greece. I'm sure there is more than one reason, but if they hate Greece so bad, would they seek to go there? Not in this case.

They call the plant " Zito Bitola?" Is this just a name or is it used in the same context as "Zito Ellas?"

These people should be on Monty Python.

The Greek side always estimates the situation wrongly.

Just two comments:

PELAGONIJA: Hm.. I see that apart from the name Macedonia, they started using the ancient Macedonian toponymes too.

They started the renamings. They say Pelagonitza instead of Bitolsko Pole.
What short of real Macedonians would they be if they were using the old Slavo-Turkic toponymes like Demir Hisar istead of the more luxurious ancient Macedonian ones?
It reminds me of something.... but what...?

SEEK ASYLUM::lol:   I see some fellows of this forum cheering.
But my interpretation of their threat is that they will come immigrants to Greece unless they are given their money back.
Also note that during the last meeting between Karamanlis and Butchkofski in Brussels, the later requested the Greek government to absorb immigrants for seasonal employment.

So we will have the same phaenomenon with Albania in 1990. I don't know what you age is, but I will refresh your memory a little bit:

When the communist regime in Albania collapsed in 1990, there was a massive wave of desperate Albanians trying to cross the Greek border. They were telling to the army and the police that they were opressed Greeks from Albania that were coming to mother Greece. And so they were let in.
The then FM Samaras was in the border himself and was hugging the Albanian immigrants and was telling them "welcome brothers".
As expected very soon the whole Greece was overwhelmed by Albanian immigrants and the "welcomes" stopped.

The same will happen with our "real Macedonian" brothers from Bitola when they will start crossing our border.

Don't be fools. There are no Greeks there. There are many pro-Greeks though, and it will be a huge mistake to bring them immigrants in Kato Patissia working for the antiparohi.

I really don't think they claimed that they'd seek any form of asylum nor Niko's senario of more immigrants.
I think it was a simple form of pressure towards the company claiming that next time, they'd sell their 'goods' to Hellinic companies and somehow this got mixed up in the translation.

Why would a company care if these people decide to abandon their homes and seek their future in a different country ??
Obviously the company wouldn't give a damn, but if the providers of the 'goods' needed for the mills to work, take their 'goods' elsewhere......
Well then the company obviously has a problem. Since no 'merchandise' means nothing to sell, nothing to sell indicates that this 'investment' is worthless and slowly but steadily will go bankrupt.

So in fear of loosing millions of whatever their currency is, they'd obviously decide or at least try to cover up this issue by paying them...

Niko, the borders originally opened for our Hellinic brothers in Albania, the fact that a large percentage 'played it' Hellinic in order to find a better future is a different issue.
Actually only 7 months later when the authorities found out of the continuous name changes (from Albanian to Hellinic), they again closed the borders which is why we had thousands of deportations.
I recall reading statistics from Eurostats that mentioned that in 94' we had over 1.000.000 deportations of illegal Albanians..

While the goverments (all of them) are the ones to blame for not taking action.. (why would they the 'big' companies made millions).
You can always thank every single one of those asswits that wanted to play it "big landowner" with a couple hectares of land or 'big company owner' when he was a simple brick layer... and gave the ILLEGALS a job..

We shouldnt grant asylum. Such a situation is not refugee criterion anyway. We should be winning them over but keeping them on the other side of the border.

Greek Radio stations, make them learn Greek, the works.

Bitola farmers seek for political asylum in Greece

Bitola, 17:00

Some 40 farmers have been trying since Thursday morning to enter the Greek Consulate in Bitola and lodge requests for political asylum, after milling company "Zito Bitola" refused to pay them for the purchased wheat.

Previously, the Public Prosecutor Stevce Tasevski informed them that he had no authority to probe into the case of false checks issued by the Zito Bitola's manager Stevce Tasevski.

"The Prosecutor told us the manager has not committed a crime, since he generated no profit by issuing false checks", Dragi Mickovski, representative of the regional farmers association "Glas" told Makfax Agency.

Zito Bitola owes 600.000 euros to the farmers of Bitola and Prilep areas for the last year's crops wheat that the company purchased from them. The wheat growers have been protesting for a long time, demanding to be compensated.

Also got this one from a skop in germany, i ll translate it (sorry for the mistakes i ll make but english is my 3rd language ^^):

Farmers were prevented from going to the greek embassy.

Hundreds of Farmers from Prilep and Bitola, who were protesting against "Zito Bitola" for not paying their crops for 2 months now, started making their way to the greek embassy.

They wanted to tell the Embassador about the macedonian state being unwilling to stand up for the right of his people and wanted to seek asylum in greece.
However, the police stopped them on their way and made sure noone of them will be able to meet the greek embassador , Dimitris Papandreou.

The Public prosecutor also forbid them to enter "Zito Bitola" because the bread there is important for the economy.
