As you know the FYROM propaganda claim that the ancient Greeks authors i nterpreted in a Greek way (finding Greek ethymology) the personal names of non-Greeks. The reason is obvious because all the ancient Macedonian names have Hellenic etymological meaning.
This theory called called "Interpretatione Graeca o Romana".
Let's see some examples
Cyros (Cyros in Greek = wealthy man ). Cyros was not the real (Persian) name of the Persian king.
Megabasos (Mega in Greek = big)
Dareios (Areios in Greek = warrior)
Xerxes (Erxies in Greek = worker)
Habrocomes (Habro in Greek = soft)
Harmamitres (Harma in Greek = chariot)
Harpagus (Harpa in Greek = plunder)
The examples given from the Slav Yannis, that as you see use a Greek usename.(This is another common propaganda from the FYROMians)
Of course world wide you will see a lot of etymological explainations.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The real derivation of the name are:
DAREIUS
derived from the Persian name Dârayavahush, which was composed of the elements dâraya "to possess" and vahu "good".
XERXES
derived from of the Persian name Khshayarsha which meant "ruler over heroes".
KYROS
derived from the Persian name Kûrush, which may mean "far sighted" or may be related to the Persian word khur "sun". The name is sometimes associated with Greek κυριος (kyrios) "lord"
HARPAGUS
derived from the Persian name Akkadian Arbaku.
