I think that carving even though conceived of for a nobel cause is a huge eyesore! I wonder if they even contemplated any other possible sculptures? I think it would be better if they just made a sculpture of Alexandros on top of Bukephalas, but on a smaller scale that can still be seen from a distance. I think a HUGE head has very little artistic qualities.

Anyways just my opinion.

They should have built a monument for him ages ago......Just like the other heores we just don't appreciate them.Where are the monuments for Leonidas,Themistocles,Miltiadis,Pericles,Pausanias ????

2 months ago in Hardavellas tv programme explained what happened and with the money. Went to the built the complex "Alexander the Great Foundation Inc", at the Dion-Litochoro junction. A huge complex , but empty of artifacts, library e.t.c.
