The attempts to re-write history and to mold events to fit into a national "ethnic Macedonian" historiography have evolved to beyond absurd. Look who has joined the frey now.
The official website of the "Macedonan Orthodox Church" is advertising the absurd theory, obviously not accepted by any serious academic institution, that a proto-"Macedonian" language is found on the Rosetta stone.

Brief history of the Macedonian Orthodox Church (http://www.mpc.org.mk/English/MPC/history-mpc.asp)
These people and their cultural institutions have no shame. What is most entertaining is the nationalist nutcases, such as the Mak(nuts)news orchestrators Uznovski, Stefov(ski) and co., lambaste the Greek government at every opportunity for appearently promoting a direct descendancy to ancient Greece "myth". I have yet to see any official Greek government policy which states modern Greeks are direct descendants of ancient Greeks (in terms of blood lineage). That aside, their statements have some audacity in light of the fact that it is the FYROM government implying relationship to ancient Macedonia with their actions of creating statues of ancient Macedonians and erecting them all over the place and renaming their national airport after Alexander, a person that has absolutely no relevance to Skopje or FYROM. Now we see that their official church is in on the act pushing the nationalist theories that have not even passed the scrutiny of international academic peer review. When this Rosetta stone theory falls flat on its face, as even the more moderate people from FYROM realize it will, we need to use this as an example and a reminder of the lengths the institutions of FYROM go to for the purpose of creating a history for themselves.
