I wonder sometimes ... Especially after what happened today.WHY IS THE FINNISH EU PRESIDENCY LICKING TURKEY'S ASS CONCERNING THE ENTRY OF TURKEY TO THE EU?
Why?
If they accept to open the borders this doesn't have to be in terms of a city or an airport or a village or a port.Do we live in ancient greece where each city was a state? No we are not. That's why it has to be made sure that ALL north cyprus territories have to be opened.ALL!
And by the way ,what is all this fuss about turkey joining the EU?Are they ready?
I doubt it...:nono:

it seems like they dont want to see the EU killing their dreams of EU Membership. They want to open 2 turkish ports for cypriot ships and by doing this they are showing first signs of defeat.

Because simply the Finnish gov is a tool of others who wish Turkey to join EU or better...Europe to Turkey. Unfortunately the current Greek gov. is proved to be again lower that All the Greeks wanted to be at this crucial moment.

The Turks will not make much out of this opportunity.
And also it would be better if we let them integrate a bit, that way it will become easier for us to enter their market without restraints, hopefully.
If they open the customs to a couple cities now, more will follow, Greek political machine in the governement is most of the time in low gear.
But still running, and this is progress for many.

mmmmm I think it s more than that.It s a vast political game.
Let's not forget as well that turks and finnish are like british and americans. They have a far relation, they come from the same family. If you observe the movements of finland ,you will be amazed at how supportive they are in accepting turkey. And you know we,here in europe we have enough having turks. They are os many in austria, germany switzerland. They gain more power like that.I don't like seeing their ''bazaar'' ,they make very clever movements. And I am afraid that your greek government might simply be a simple spectator.I hope of course not,but I am very afraid that the balance will drop more on the turkish side.

Yes of course it is more vast than that, did you read something we havent maybe?
Is it just reading the signs?

Read this essay, unfortunately i havent got a subscription, but i read it in the magazine, which i lost a week ago.
It argues about Turkeys political presence from the Middle-East to Tenerife and Lapland.
And its quite massive.
Unfortunately, the job our governement is supposed to do is conducted by simple people who dwell among European, American and Arab circles for quite some time now.
But anyway...what is your opinion?

I believe that Turkey is not ready yet.Their financial situation has been improved but the military chiefs are still in charge of all political games.Let's not forget that they have a great influence over the media ,the folk ,if they want something to be done then it will be done.If they give two ports and one airport WHO SAYS THAT THEY WILL DO SO AS THEY ARE TOLD?There aren't any UN observers or any further proof that Turkey will act as planned.Let's say a cypriot ship comes into such a port. The pressure and the controls will be such that the ships will avoid going there, whatsoever. It will be like a sort of an embargo. In the papers it will be accepted from turkey but in reality things will be different. The government in Cyprus can't accept the decision as they will recognise the northern territory. It's more complicated than it seems to be.
I am not an expert in the whole cyprus thing but i think europe shouldn't lick turkey's ass.You will see what will happen.Greek solutions will be ignored ,I am positive sure.
And believe me from what I see among turkish people (my ex was from Turkey) THEY ARE DEFINITELY NOT READY TO JOIN THE E.U...
I am sorry to say this as well but I am sooooo happy that my country is not a member of the E.U. and has always chosen to be neutral.:clap2:

Greece, Cyprus dismiss Ankara¢s move to open ports as stunt
Athens and Nicosia had a skeptical response yesterday to a proposal by Turkey to open some of its ports and airports to Cyprus in return for a new start in the island's reunification talks and trade concessions to Turkish Cypriots.
Both Greece and Cyprus doused the encouragement felt by some European Union officials after news of Turkey's proposal. Nicosia, in particular, was adamant that it would not accept Ankara's deal.
«We've told the Europeans clearly that this is not up for discussion,» said Cypriot Foreign Minister Giorgos Lillikas.
Turkey is offering to open one port and one airport to Cyprus for one year as long as a comprehensive solution to the Cyprus problem could be found within those 12 months.
«This is a preplanned move by Turkey to make an impression,» said Lillikas. «This makes a mockery of the European Union as it is devoid of any serious content.»
Ankara has signed a protocol to open all its ports and airports to the 25 EU members but, headed toward an assessment of its accession process next week, has yet to do this.
Nicosia also rejected Ankara's efforts to link its EU obligations with the possible reunification of Cyprus.
«We are saying that Turkey's obligations to the EU are independent of what will happen in Cyprus,» said Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos during a trip to China. «Nor do we believe that Cyprus has to give something in exchange to Turkey so that it meets it obligations to Europe.»
Similarly, the Greek government also brushed aside Turkey's proposal and put the emphasis on the need for Ankara to meet the commitments it agreed to when it signed the Ankara protocol in July 2005.
Greek Foreign Ministry spokesman Giorgos Koumoutsakos said that Turkey had agreed to implement the protocol «without any terms or preconditions.»
Koumoutsakos said that if Ankara is not willing to meet its accession obligations then «the EU as a whole must send a clear and strong message.» He also suggested that Brussels should freeze negotiations in more than eight of the 35 policy areas the European Commission has recommended for suspension.

Kalimera sou kiries kai kiri...
I am so glad that the E.U. committee has decided to freeze the whole process...Turkey didn't present any vital signs of opening the ports and airports. That's why everything will slow down until they are ready to accept the terms. That s how it works.E.U. doesn't have to make them favours but it has to be the opposite. What I am sure now, though, you will observe for the next weeks more turkish military aircraft provoking the greek air territories. They will ,thus, show their anger...That s how it usually happens.

i am sceptical for this issue. The US and theirs "satelites"(British, Spanish, Italian, Finn and Bulgaria from 2007) will not leave this issue the EU hands. Will wait political scenes as about how they pressed Greece and Cyprus!!!
Greece has and the Macedonian issue open and as also the "findings") from the USA ) several minorities issues like the Turkish and the FYROMian.
Cyprus will be press as about the re-opening of the Annan plan.
So we must wait >>>>
