Default Proof the Skopjians are Bulgarians...

1) Thanks to Kapitan_vorias for finding this:
FYROM was called:
A postal card from Skopje (from 1911).... what was FYROM called then?

VARDARSKO VOJVODA (and that is what it should be called) Check out the Blue Stamp.... No mention at all about Macedonia which is Greek and should stay that way....

2) http://site.znain.com/macedonia/pict...liticians.html

A request from Mite Apostolov Matovski, father of Mihail Apostolski. He is begging for amnesty of the death sentence for his Bulgarian son, born by Bulgarian parents, who worked and fought for Bulgaria. Mihail Apostolski was general-major, commandant of NVO and PO of Macedonia. Member of the the presidium, chosen in the first conference of ASNOM (2 august 1944).

The prisoner card of Lazar Kolishev, where he signed himself as Bulgarian.

In reality Skopians are west Bulgarians:

In a letter to Prof. Marin Drinov of May 25, 1888 Kuzman Shapkarev writes:
"But even stranger is the name Macedonians, which was imposed on us only 10 to 15 years ago by outsiders, and not as something by our own
intellectuals... Yet the people in Macedonia know nothing of that ancient name, reintroduced today with a cunning aim on the one hand and a stupid one on the other. They know the older word: "Bugari", although mispronounced: they have even adopted it as peculiarly theirs, inapplicable to other Bulgarians. You can find more about this in the introduction to the booklets I am sending you. They call their own Macedono-Bulgarian dialect the "Bugarski language", while the rest of the Bulgarian dialects they refer to as the "Shopski language". (Makedonski pregled, IX, 2, 1934, p. 55; the original letter is kept in the Marin Drinov Museum in Sofia, and it is available for examination and study)

Here is the text in the original:
"No pochudno e imeto Makedonci, koeto naskoro, edvay predi 10-15 godini, ni natrapiha i to otvqn, a ne kakto nyakoi mislyat ot samata nasha
inteligenciya... Narodqt obache v Makedoniya ne znae nishto za tova arhaichesko, a dnes, s lukava cel ot edna strana, s glupeshka ot druga, podnoveno prozvishte; toy si znae postaroto: Bugari, makar i nepravilno proiznasyano, daje osvoyava si go kato sobstveno i preimushtestveno svoe, nejeli za drugite Bqlgari. Za tova shte vidite i v predgovora na izpratenite mi knijici. Toy naricha Bugarski ezik svoeto Makaedono-bqlgarsko narechie, kogato drugite bqlgarski narechiya naricha Shopski."

http://members.tripod.com/~dimobetchev/documents/ilinden.htm

" Considering the critical and terrible situation that the Bulgarian population of the Bitola Vilayet found itself in and following the ravages and cruelties done by the Turkish troops and irregulars, ... considering the fact that everything Bulgarian runs the risk of perishing and disappearing without a trace because of violence, hunger, and the upcoming misery, the Head Quarters finds it to be its obligation to draw the attention of the respected Bulgarian government to the pernicious consequences vis-a-vis the Bulgarian nation, in case the latter does not fulfill its duty towards its brethren of race here in an imposing fashion which is necessary by virtue of the present ordeal for the common Bulgarian Fatherland...

...Being in command of our people's movement, we appeal to you on behalf of the enslaved Bulgarian to help him in the most effective way - by waging war.We believe that the response of the people in free Bulgaria will be the same.

... No bulgarian school is opened, neither will it be opened... Nobody thinks of education when he is outlawed by the state because he bears the name Bulgar...

Waiting for your patriotic intervention, we are pleased to inform you that we have in our disposition the armed forces we have spared by now.

The Head Quarters of the Ilinden Uprising"

Damian GRUEV, Boris SARAFOV, Atanas LOZANTCHEV

This memorandum was handed to Dr.Kozhuharov, the Bulgarian consul in Bitola, and transmitted by him to the government in Sofia with report N441 from September 17th, 1903. "

A part of the text is published on p.435 of Macedonia's Struggle for Liberation (Sofia, 1933, edition of The Ilinden Uprising Veterans' Organization) by Christo SILJANOV - one of the leaders of IMRO and one of the most eminent historians and memoirists that have ever written on the national liberation movement of the Bulgarians in Macedonia and the district of Adrianople.

PICTURES FROM THE BALKANS - John Foster Fraser 1906

Taken from Chapter 20

MONASTIR
The town of Monastir, capital of the vilayet of Monsastir, lies just about half way between Bulgarian and Greek territory. North, the majority of MACEDONIANS are BULGAR, south the majority are HELLENES.[...]

[...]The dreadful autumn of 1903, when the BULGARIAN insurrection broke out in Macedonia, has left deep traces. [...]

George and Pando Mladenov Letter To L. Todorov
Toronto, Canada.

TO LUBOMIR TODOROV,
EDITOR IN CHIEF
"MACEDONIAN TRIBUNE"

ANSWER TO A PROVOCATION.

RE: Your visit to the republic of Macedonia with Luben Topchev, your interview with the Macedonian TV, "Makedonsko Sonce" newspaper, etc.

Dear Sir:

On March 6th, Luben Topchev called me and protested to my brother (Gosho Mladenov's ) reply to Mac. Sun for what you said against Mladenov's brothers the interview.

I have being thinking about this for a long time, and must answer you, I have being provoked. You told me that you will be throwing bombs at the Serbomans. Let's find out who has been throwing bombs and who the snowballs. Short lesson: Very brief was the joy from the freedom of the Turkish yolk, that created San Stefano Bulgaria in 1878.

July the same year at the Congress of Berlin, Bulgaria was split in three: northern Bulgaria, Eastern Romelia (as autonomous province) and
Macedonia and Thrace returned back to Turkey. This created

T H E M A C E D O N I A N Q U E S T I O N

As the British prime minister Disraely said: If we allow great Bulgaria in the Balkans, we are creating a small Russia in the Balkans.

In 1885 without a single shot or casualty Eastern Romelia united with Bulgaria - Turkey threatened to occupy Romelia. The Bulgarians in Macedonia threatened with uprising. One month after,Serbia attacked Bulgaria to cut off the supply line to Macedonia The Vardar Valley. The Serbs eat such good kicking in Slivnitsa, that will remember it for more than 1000 years.

The unifiers of Bulgaria turned their attention to Macedonia and Thrace by organizing the Committees Unity headed by Zahari Stoyanov, Luben Karavelov, Stefan Stambolov and the wife and later the daughter of Hristo Botev. The revolutionary singer and fighter in Bulgaria. THE MACEDONIAN CULTURAL SOCIETIES AND ASSOCIATION WERE BORN.

THE MOTHER OF THE MACEDONIAN STRUGGLE IS THE BULGARIAN NATIONAL LIBERATION MOVEMENT.

October, 1893 in Solun was created THE BULGARIAN, MACEDONO-ODRINSKI REVOLUTIONARY COMMITTEES. LATER KNOWN IN THE HISTORY AS BMPO.

In the constituent meeting Dr. Hristo Tatarchev said:

"Brothers we are Bulgarians, let us get to work to unite with mother Bulgaria. " Damian Gruev pointed the mercilessness with which the grate powers dealt Bulgaria at the Berlin Congress."First Autonomous Macedonia, then uniting with Bulgaria in the example with Eastern Romelia.~ said) DAMIAN GRUEV The forefather of the Macedonian liberation struggle in this historical moment is 22 years of age.

DAMIAN GRUEV WITH HIS COMRADES DR. HRISTO TATARCHEV, PETER POP-ARSOV IVAN HADJI-NIKOLOV , ANTHON DIMITROV AND HRISTO BATANJIEV WERE BLUE BLODED BULGARIANS.

For 10 short years Villayers, teachers, priests learned and not so learned were organized in BMPO and gave everything to MACEDONIA. Ilinden 1903 is the most heroic event in the history of the Bulgarian people. The heroically spilled blood that socked the Macedonian land in Smilevo, Krushevo and Mechking kamok, knows only Bulgarians.

THE CREATION OF BMPO AND ILINDEN INSURRECTION ARE 2 GRATE EVENTS IN THE HISTORY OF THE BULGARIAN PEOPLE.

In the 4 following wars the VOEVODI AND CHETNITSI FROM BMPO without exception joint the Bulgarian army.

THEY WERE BLUE BLOODED BULGARIAN PATRIOTS.
Vasll Chakalarov The glorious voivoda in charge of southern flank in speech before the boys said."Those of you that are not fiscally and spiritually up to the heavy days ahead may join the regular army. There they can also be useful to mother Bulgaria." hundreds of thousands of After Ilinden, the Balkan and first world war hundreds of thousands Bulgarians immigrated to Bulgaria. To day halve of the population of Sofia the capital of Bulgaria, and one third of all Bulgaria have their roots from Macedonia. Small portion of them came to America, Canada Australia.

After the first world war the Macedonian Bulgarians showed more resilience.

After Damian Gruev, Gotse Delchev, Boris Sarafov and Ivan Garvanov the leadership of BMPO was taken by Todor Aleksandrov, person with reach revolutionary and organizational experience.

Taking over after the assassinations of Boris Sarafov and Ivan Garvanov 1907 he was voivoda in charge of Kukush and Solun fitting the new oppressors.,

When law and order was braking down in Bulgaria lawlessness- was way of life. Todora inspired the renewed fighting throughout Macedonia.

Todora encouraged new blood, young students like Ivan Mihailov,Kiril Drangov, Iordan Chkatrov, Peter Atsev, Strahil Razvigorov,Luben Dimitrov, Asen Avramov and , many more to give their contribution to the macedonian movement.

Todor Alexandrov restructured BMPO, The Macedonian Brotherhoods and the student organizations in and out of Bulgaria and encouraged the creation of THE MACEDONIAN POLITICAL ORGANIZATION(MPOJ 1922.

THE WHOLE OF THE MACEDONIAN EMIGRATION WAS TURNED INTO COLOSSA~HUMAN LABORATORY TN THE MACEDONIAN LIBERATION MOVEMENT.

Again Europe and the world were hearing about Macedonia as much as they were hearing true the Ilinden insurrection. IZGREY ZORA NA SVOBODATA AGAIN thundered _- True MACEDONIAN ROCKY MOUNTAINS.

Between BMPO and MPO their was unanimity and unity in action. They worked and served under one name BULGARIAN~which is older than the creation of the state called Bulgaria.

May 19, 1934 serbian agents headed by Damian Velchev and Kimon Georgiev maid military coup D,Etat.

Ivan Mihailov regardless of the advice given him to make counter Coup D,Etat, gave orders under no circumstances will BMPO race a hand against Bulgarian solders. This is what the Serbs are waiting for. To start Civil war on Bulgarians, against Bulgarians. Even if t ~ will not be Macedonian Movement for lO years

Instead courageous Bulgarian Vlado Chernozemski in Marseille France Oct. 1934 knocked down the Tyrant Kral Alexander Karageorgevich.

MACEDONIA AND ALL THE PEOPLE OPPRESSED BY THE SERBS TOOK A SIGH OF RELIEF. VLADO CHERNOZEMSKI STRUCK THE SERBIZIM IN THE HART.

The British Statesman Anthony Eden writes in his memoirs "This was the biggest event between the tow wars. These were the first shots of the second world war.

After May 19, 1934 MPO had the honor to defend the Bulgarian cause in and outside Bulgaria. As the present Ambassador in Zagreb Velizar Enchev said " Country that has relied on its emigrants to defend its national interests, their ~ something wrong in it."

NOVEMBER 1943 in Aitse SVETOZAR VUCMANOVICH TEMPO without anybody present from Macedonia with decree proclaimed MACEDONIAN NATIONALITY.

After W.W.II Macedonia once again is soaked in blood and tears more cruel than thrghou the Ilinden Insurrection.

IN VARDAR MACEDONIA

Blaga Velichkova who as student in the university of Skopie ended up in the serbocomunist concentration camp GOLI OTOK with ~ her memoirs and states over 30,000 Bulgarians are, killed without court sentences, ' and 200,000 passed through the jails and the concentration camps.

VARDAR MACEDONIA BECAME THE BIGGEST COMMUNIST CONCENTRATION CAMP

In Pirin Macedonia the elite of the Macedonian Movement by the thousands s were killed or thrown in jails and concentration camps, forced to denounce their Bulgarian nationality, and become Macedonians.

TRUE THE KGB FILES is discovered, that June 6th, 1946 in a meeting in the Kremlin Stalin ordered Georgi Dimitrov to deal mercilessly with the Macedonian activists in Bulgaria. On June the 7th in the evening were the massive arrests throughout Bulgaria. I was one of them. The jails and concentration camps were packed with Macedonian activists. ~n~ The leaders of BMPO the student organizations: Vlado Kurtev, Joro Nastev, Iosif Markov, Atanas Pashkov, Georgi Markov, Kosta Rizov, Gosho Atanasov were burned alive in the communists ovens, or halve dead given to Tito to finish them.

Of that group only Kiril Drangov refused to surrender, keeled 6 policeman and with the last bullet keeled himself. His son Rev. Boris Drangov is the parish priest in the Bulgarian church St. George in Toronto. ~0

The second more dangerous gro were sent to the jail in Pleven. I managed to come out alive, and escaped. 152 of them later 1952 on Easter day in the jai Pasardjik and the camp near Belitsa Pazloshko were keeled with sledge hammers.

The American Ambassador to Bulgaria Mr. Burns at the time said to us; "The Macedonian Bulgarians are most cruelly butchered in Bulgaria, Yugoslavia and Greece. How do you survive. What is this power that makes you fight such powerful enemies."

To the peace conference in Paris 1946 MPO sent few thousand telegrams against the Greek and serbian demands for more Bulgarian territory.

Luben Dimitrov Editor of Macedonian Tribune for more than 33 years wrote" The defenders of the bulgarian cause in America are the Bulgarians from Macedonia" Published many times in Macedonian Tribune.
THE BULGARIAN PATRIOTIC FEELING WAS THE ENGINE , THE PROPELLER THE DRIVING FORCE IN THE MACEDONIAN PATRIOTIC ORGANIZATION.

Ivan Mihailov in his writings and congratulations to MPO Conventions speaks only of Macedonian Bulgarians.

St. George's church and MPO Pobeda in Toronto became the fortification the power, the back bone of MPO. MPO Was Toronto

THE TROUBLES STARTED SOON AFTER THE DEATH OF LUBEN DIMITROV.

HOW DID THIS COME ALL ABOUT ?

Some 30 years ago The Canadian Security Services, warned us that UDBA is establishing base in Toronto, and the main target is MPO.

We mercilessly exposed all serbocomunist agents and their sympathizers. One UDBA General, two Colonels and the Yugoslavian Counsel General Mitev were expelled from Canada.

Again THE MLADENOV's WERE THROWING THE BOMBS AT THE SERBOCOMUNISTS.

This will explain why UDBA some 15 years later organized OMO ILINDEN first in the village of Mosomishte, near Gotse Delchev Pirin Macedonia the village of Mladenov's.

BORISLAV IVANOV newly arrived in America became Editor to Macedonian Tribune after Luben Dimitrov's death. Didnt take long, he got into fight with Ivan Mihailov.

At a meeting at the time with Peter Atsev, I told him;" MPO will never be the same again."

This was the worst split in MPO. Brother against brother. We expelled from the church Rev. Vasil Mihailov. The most deserving Bulgarian. The strong and powerful man in the church and MPO. He never waved. Remained loyal to Ivan Mihailov to the end.

Hear I want to apologies To Rev Mihailov's family for my perticipation in this antibulgarian act.

WE DESTROYED THE LOYALTY, HARMONY AND DISCIPLINE IN MPO AND THE CHURCH.

LAZAR MOISOV the most staunch serbocomunist the Yugoslavian Ambassador to the UN at the same time has been visiting in Toronto Lazar Bitov past member of C.C. of MPO, and directing the whole fight.

WE FELL INTO THE SERBOCOMUNIST TRAP.

_._ _ ___ _ _ __ _ __ _, _ _ _ _ _ _ _

The Yugoslavian Councils personally checked with everybody in MPO who is who. They were given serbian path on the back for good service.

BORISLAV IVANOV I HAVE KNOWN from 15 years of age. His life ambition was to become leader. His time never came. But everything he touched destroyed, turned sour or fell apart.

We outmaneuvered the serbocomunists, and brought for a priest in St. George Rev. Boris Drangov, the son of Kiril Drangov and grand son of Colonel Boris Drangov. The serbocomunists know that the family Drangov is the most outstanding bulgarian family in Macedonia for the last 150 years.

LAZAR MOISOV THROUGH LAZAR BITOV tried to take over the church of St. George the bastion of bulgarlanizim in Toronto.

He was stooped by Steve Stavrov Sholdov his first cousin, and told him. I will sell your houses before you take over the church. This same Steve Stavrov also stopped the stupidity of other fools who were trying to destroy the second church Rev. Mihailov build.

BUT THE SERBOCOMUNISTS DID NOT STOP. THEY SEND THEIR BEST AGENT LUBITSA ATSEVSKA. TAKEN FROM THE U.S.A. AND TRAINED IN UDBA.

LUBOMIR TODOROV interview with Macedonian Sun Jan. 29, 1999. You State; The brothers Mladenov and some groups in Toronto were for Sanstefanska Bulgaria, and because of it were expelled.

COLONEL BORIS CHALEV I MET at the funeral of Rev. George Nikolov in Ditroit. He paid me a compliment. Pando from what I know you are the most deserving member of MPO." I said:" Is that why you kicked me out of MPO ?" He said.I was under grate pressure from the Lebamov's especially George to do it. But I accept the responsibility." Only MPO Conventions can expel or accept organization in MPO. Their is no such convention division.

LUBITSA ATSEVSKA THE MACEDONIAN AMBASSADOR TO THE U.S.A was in fact in charge of MPO directed by UDBA.

Verginia Nizamova Like a clock 2-3 times a week spoke with her and was reporting to Ivan Lebamov, who did not do anything without her approval. Under her directive he removed and eliminated all influential Bulgarians from MPO. He new how to use power.

By shear numbers Toronto was spiritually and financially the backbone of MPO. UDBA has known that for a long time. That is why the organization in Toronto, were ,expelled.

Expelled were the families of Blagoy Marcov, people that had served with Ivan Mihailov and paying more than 60% of the donations to MPO. Check how much is donated now at the conventions. The perpouse was to eliminate the Bulgarians.

NOW YOU KNOW WHY LUBEN DIMITROV ELECTED TO BE BURIED IN TORONTO.

ON FEB.. 25, 1999 THE PREMIER OF MACEDONIA MR. LUBCHO GEORGIEVSKI

BEFORE HE MET WITH PRESIDENT CLINTON HE GAVE LUBITSA 2 MINUTES TO SIGN HER RESIGNATION AND GET OUT OF HIS SIDE.

WE CONGRATULATE THE PREMIER OF MACEDONIA MR. LUBCHO GEORGIEVSKI

FOR THIS COURAGEOUS ACT.

CENTRAL COMMITTEE AND MACEDONIAN TRIBUNE BECAME ANTI BULGARIAN.

In Toronto we started the publication of MACEDONO BULGARIAN REVIEW VARDAR sent free to the Governments to Europe, Macedonia and Bulgarian parliamentarians and others. This magazine turned the serbomanv upside-down.

The "Academic" Blaje Ristevski has gone to Kiro Grigorov and asked for permission to sue Mladenov's in Toronto. Kiro Grigorov told him to be careful, because Mladenov's will blow his ass.

In the last elections the serbocomunists went berserk, knocking on every door, trying to scare the people that BMPO will unlte Macedonia with Bulgaria. Our people told us that the serbomany were mad

Nova Macedonia in 17 successful issues published the conversation with Ivan Mihailov. Where was the macedonian tribune ?

Over $100,000 cost, did not ask anybody for a dime.

THE MLADENOV's AGAIN WERE THROWING THE BOMBS.

IVAN LEBAMOV AND HIS WIFE YOU TOLD ME have become alcoholics, and that all lawyers in the firm have left him. And his out on bail from serious car accident. How tragic. He could have been the biggest name in Macedonia and Bulgaria.

I was the one that dragged him to meetings, picnics and dances in Toronto. He became MPO leader in Toronto and died in Toronto.

If you recall Lubomir you were gest in my house, January 1994 when we published the bulletin "Quo Vadis Ivan Lebamov." At the day of learning he was left with 8 people and the serbian paid professor Andrew Rossos lecturing and seventy people at the dance . AGAIN THE MLADENOV'S WERE THROWING THE BOMBS AGAIN THE TRAITORS IN MPO. ACCORDING TO LUBEN TOPCHEV THE SERBOCOMUNISTS BRIBED HIM BY PROMISING to make him a lobbyist for Macedonia, and his law firm acted to re cooperate some interest of the money owed to Yugoslavia from Iraq, Iran and Libya. He is bean trying to get them 8%~ but got only 3%. How much he got paid for his work is not clear.

IVAN LEBAMOV flirted with serbomany and signed a declaration recognizing Macedonian language and nationality. MT febr.15, 1992. September after the convention 1992 the tree brothers Mladenovi visited Macedonia and had audience with the President Kiro Grigorov.
At the meeting he told me that,"MPO has to change its platform." I hit the table as strong as could and told him; Mpo will fallow its historical pat and defend the rights of the Bulgarians in Macedonia'.

AGAIN THE MLADENOV's WERE THROWING THE BOMBS, AGAINST THE SERBOMANY.

The platform was already changed by Ivan Lebamov. Later he pressed Colonel Boris Chalev to change also the by laws of MPO but Boris Chalev had enough sense and refused.

Sommer 1993 before the convention in Toronto he lectured C.C. on Alexander the great and the big celebration in Iraq with the flags etc. It is all on tape if you want to check it. Not only that "The macedono-Bulgarian churches will never go back to the Bulgarian synod. Whose orders was he following.?

Questions:

Furnatsiev from CNN is Bulgarian from Bansko. Bulgarian. The MPO since its inception in all Memorandums and Petitions to the League of Nations and United Nations have always defended the rights of the Bulgarians in Macedonia.

Q. When in the last 10 years in all the petitions to Governments, United Nations ETS M.T.once mentioned the word Bulgarian?

Q. How come in M.T. You mentioned everybody who said what in the last MPO convention, accept what the Mladenov's said about the macedonian language and the questions asked from Lubitsa Atsevska and Ambassador Christopher Hill ? -~

Q. Luben Topchev visited the camp Idrizovo, where he spent some time with Bishop Mihail the head of the Mac. Church and the brother and father of the minister Naumov.

Why were they in concentration camp. How many banks did they rob ? Because they were Bulgarians brother Lubomir Bulgarians.

Q. For whom did Todor Alexandrov, Mara Buneva and Ivan Mihailov gave their lives ?

The Bulgarians brother Lubomir the Bulgarians.

Q. MPO does not recognize Macedonian language and nationality. See article 28 of the By-Laws. To whom did you cater by recommending that the Macedonian language will remain as servicing in Macedonia.

Q. Whom did you tray to appease by stating that in Bulgaria their are 2-3 million macedonians. Bulgarians Lubomir Bulgarians.

Q. GEORGE LEBAMOV when proposing in the convention and Central Committee meeting that, since we are Macedonians macedonian tribune should start being printed in macedonian rather than bulgarian.

Whose directives is this macedonian idiot caring out, when he does not know 100 words from the macedonia dialect.

IS IT COINCIDENT THAT GEORGE LEBAMOV EVERY TIME HE VISITS MACEDONIA MEETS WITH DOBRI VELICHROVSKY THE CHIEF OF UDBA (now retired) What created this brotherly love?

It is public secret that the Lebamov's robed MPO from the cash it had. Now are robing left and right the bingo in Forth Wayne. HOW LONGE WILL THIS BE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE.

Curious incident. When MPO Todor Alexandrov was organized in Bruxcel Belgium in the 1950, some of the boys did not feel Bulgarian and Asen Avramov told them don't listen to me write to your fathers.

In a meeting in the presence of Rev. V. Mihailov one of the boys reads the letter he got from his father." Son from what I know Bulgarian cock maid you. What you turned out to be is your problem."

CHRIS IVANOV IN TORONTO Nov. 1, 1998 created new MPO out of the churches from 16 antibulgarians and declared. My grand father was Bulgarian (keeled by the serbocomunists on front of the whole family) my father is Bulgarian, but I feel Macedonian." Few people called you on this, and you told me not to do anything, he is from good Bulgarian family."

LAZAR MOISOV AND LAZAR BITOV WERE ALSO FROM GOOD BULGARIAN FAMILIES.

Ivan and George Lebamov's, Boris Chalev and Virginia Nizamova also come from good Bulgarian families, but just remembered that, when they were in high school their fathers told them that they are Macedonians.

WHAT THEIR FATHERS FORGOT TO TELL THEM , IS THAT BULGARIAN COCKS (KYPOBE) MADE THEM. WHAT THEY TURNED OUT TO BE IS THEIR PROBLEM.

We shall appeal to the macedono-bulgarian community to boycott the next convention planed for Toronto.

WE WILL TEACH THE MACEDONIAN COWBOY CHRISTO IVANOV, A LESSON THAT VO PRILEP MAIMUN NE IGRA.

If you visited Macedonia to appease the serbocomunists you succeeded.

K Shapkarev's "Bulgarsky Boukvar" 1868, p45
[Bulgarian Primer - in the language of the Macedonian Bulgarians]

Kuzman Shapkarev was the greatest collector and publisher of ethnographic material in Vardar Macedonia. Born in the city of Ohrid, he spent some 30 years (1855-84) as a teacher in this part of Macedonia. He published hundreds of articles and monographs on the dialects and folklore in the Periodic Journal of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (Bqlgarskoto Knijovno Drujestvo). His major work is "Sbornik ot bqlgarski narodni umotvoreniya" in three volumes, Sofia, 1891-94.

From the
"Autobiography" (1864)
of Kouzman Shapkarev
The state of education in Macedonia

"Genealogy and life of Kouzman, the son of Tasev (Atanasov), the son of Paskal, the son of Mihail Shapkarev from Ochrida. Mihail Shapkarev, a
Bulgarian, born in the village of Leskovets, which is at one hour's walk east of Ochrida, in the Western part of Petrino Mountain, was the father of two sons called Hadji Peter and Paskal. According to the usual custom of that time, Mihail went to work in Constantinople and since he stayed a very long time there, without visiting his family, his wife took her little children and went on horseback to her husband in Constantinople. After staying for a while there she returned home again. That is why she was called later "Stamboulka".
When the end of my stay in Bitolya drew near, that is, when I finished my studies there, I had to look for a job as a teacher. My teacher Atanasy took the trouble to find me a job. He tried to place me in Turnovo (a small village in the district of Bitolya) but failed. Then he tried through Georgy Tsolev, the best friend and secret adviser of Atanasy, ie mine as well, then through Atanasy and Yanakiev, to get an appointment for me as teacher in the village of Neveska or some other village. Meanwhile some people from Koukoush, of whom Stameno Petsov was one, put up at our inn once and invited me for a teacher in Koukoush (where the spark of love for our mother Bulgarian tongue had not been kindled yet). I am very much obliged especially to two of my teachers - one of them Mile Skopachev, who being a good psalm singer, taught me to sing and understand a little of hymn-singing; while the other - Kostadin Hr. Ouzounov, was the first to inspire me with the desire to study my native language. He gave me a Serbian primar (because there were no Bulgarian primars in our part of the country, and no one even thought of studying Bulgarian, while now, thank God, the situation is quite changed), taught me to understand the letters and kindled the first sparks of love for our language in me. God bless his soul in heaven! That year I studied geography, mathematics, ecclesiastical history, together with Ancon Mitanov and Vasil Dyamandiev.

During the three years of my being a teacher in Strouga two important things in my life took place there. The first was that I introduced in school for the first time the teaching of our native language the Bulgarian language, which about a century (70 years) ago was in danger of disappearing completely. The reason for this introduction was closely connected with the late Dimiter Miladinov, of whom we shall speak more later on in this book. This worthy man, being a teacher in Greek for many years, was naturally for a while a supporter of the Greeks andpersecutor of the Bulgarians. But during the last years of his life (just like St. Paul) he was aware of his delusion, in which not only all Bulgarians in Macedonia but even he himself had fallen, and renouncing his former errors he zealously worked even to the day of his death for the spiritual revival of the people, and the introduction of the Bulgarian language in the Bulgarian churches and schools, in which the Greek language was used at that time. The endeavours of this worthy man inspired me also to introduce the Bulgarian language which I learnt to read a little as early as 1856 in Ochrida from Kostadin Hr. Ouzounov - in my school. But I lacked the necessary books. I received help, however, from the same person. Because after he returned to his place in Prilep he sent me 15 Serbian primars with church letters. Then after he went to Koukoush he sent me a sufficient number of Bulgarian primars and histories, published by the Archimandrite Parteny Zografsky, the present bishop of Polyanin (Koukoush). This is the first event. And the second one is that at the end of my second year there (Oct. 30th, 1858) I was engaged to Elisaveta D. Miladinova, and married her five years later [Sept. 25th, 1863].

A request from Lazar Panev Kolishev to the Bulgarian king Boris III for amnesty. Kolishev received death sentence for his terroristical actions and was begging for mercy because he "grew up in poor Bulgarian family, raised by Bulgarian parents, and never sympatized the damned left ideas". Later the same person became...Lazo Kolishevski - president of the Yugoslavian Republic Of Macedonia.
