FYROM lies in Eurovision

From 2006, commentators on the annual Eurovision song contest (in Australia at least) have begun, it seems, to punctuate their introduction of the country of FYROM with references to Alexander the Great being from there. No such references are applied to the introduction of Greece in the contest. Alas, I do not have a link for this but I daresay some of you who live in Australia and saw the contest last year would have witnessed this outrageous statement from the dry-witted Brit (whose name I forget and frankly couldn't care less about remembering) with whose needless, grating interruptions our Aussie Eurovision coverage is, unfortunately, every year afflicted.

In my opinion if this was happened is a provocation from the Australian diaspora FYROMacedonians.

Yes, I'm afraid you are right. I am from Sydney, Australia and I watched Eurovision last year on TV.

I remember what that commentator said about Fyrom, he mentioned that "Macedonia" is right next to Greece and that Alexander the Great was "Macedonian" meaning Skopjen. This comment was totally unecessary and he didn't even care that Greece was hosting the event, no respect. So everyone who heard that comment and don't know history, thinks that our beloved Alexander is a "Macedonian" of Skop type.

If you ask me, that bastard knew exacly what he was saying and knows that Alexander was Greek. See, it's happening before our eyes, people trying to de-hellenise Alexander.

I'm sure all the skops were happy with that comment.

I saw it as well but bear in mind the telecast comes directly from Europe, I am assuming it is the United kingdom version we were watching. We don't use Australian hosts for Eurovision so unfortunately I think not only here in Australia but many other places around the world who took the same telecast heard the Pommy and his stupidity.
