I have found a quote from Hall in Hellenicity (page 128) that mention.........

Demosthenes warning (19.303) that Philip II of Macedon was fostering alliances "throught Hellas and the Peloponnese" and ....

Here is a piece from Wikipedia on the Aeolian dialect where the Atheneans label the Aeolian dialect "barbaric" :
