Macedonia I and Macedonia II

No Macedonia at all

Here's the paradox starts: Macedonia in Thrace

http://www.roman-emperors.org/sest10.htm

Macedonia in... Bulgaria?
http://www.roman-emperors.org/sest11.htm

That's it, Macedonia is no more (until 1912)

None of the Ottoman names is Macedonia, ever
http://www.roman-emperors.org/sest14.htm

--------------------------------------------------------------

As we can see, Macedonia was almost a region between modern Greece, Bulgaria and Turkey, and outside of ANY region that calls itself Macedonia today. Explain why don't we call as Macedonia the same region that was called Macedonia (and Thrace) until the 11th century A.D., but instead we insist upon calling as "Macedonia" some other places, including ones that were NEVER PART OF ANY HISTORICAL MACEDONIA.

Any explanation is welcomed...

Excellent work Petros.

Basil II moved the Macedonians to Thrace and the army to Thessaloniki. That's why Bulgarians, Slavs and tartars failed to capture it.

Stupid answer, Basil II lived from 958 A.D. to December 15, 1025 A.D. In fact, the entire "Macedonian dynasty" (of Armenian origins) lasted from 811 A.D. up to 1057 A.D.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basil_II

Therefore, the "shift" of Macedonia during the 6th century A.D. has nothing to do with the "Macedonian" dynasty... Because the latter was not created until about 2 centuries AFTER the shift took place.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macedonian_dynasty

Mygdonia gets an "F" for this attempt.

Thanks moderator - oh, you're not one.

But your concern is noted. Next time just do a PM if you're so concerned as I see this as a duty of a moderator.

I hope you understand.

You don't have to be a moderator to show concern when 2 Greeks are going to have a brawl which is not uncommon considering we've been doing it for 4000 years. As a law abiding citizen of this forum I felt my Hellenic duty to remind you both where you are and your sense of responsibility.........

It's alright we know each other and we will work it out - don't need you to butt in.

You're just making it worse -- run along.
