Alexander's Death

So I spoke to my dad who thinks Alexander may have died of a STD, I think he said syphilis. I hadn't heard much of this theory, but have found others who think it is a possibility. Here is a quote from wikipedia:

"After twelve years of constant military campaigning, Alexander died, possibly of malaria, typhoid, or viral encephalitis."

Now I researched what encephalitis is and this is what came up:

"Encephalitis is an acute inflammation of the brain, commonly caused by a viral infection. Sometimes, encephalitis can result from a bacterial infection, such as bacterial meningitis, or it may be a complication of other infectious diseases like rabies (viral) or syphilis (bacterial). Certain parasitic protozoal infestations, like by toxoplasma, can also cause encephalitis in people with compromised immune systems. Brain damage occurs as the inflamed brain pushes against the skull, and can lead to death."

So looks like the old Greeks knew some things. Knowledge passed down all those generations. Who knows for sure and we can't be sure but...
